hi all, just got a 1999 2.3l galaxy zetec, the interior lights work if you use the switch to turn them on and off, however they don't come on when you open the door or unlock it, this includes the boot lights the middle light and the front light, the glove box light works as it should as do all the individual lights around the car. i have looked at the fuses and cant see any blown ones, if i press the little button on the door that tells the car if the door is open or not i can hear a relay working, all the wiring going into the boot seems to be in good condition, one of the open door switches is broken, the rubber top is gone and the black press button in the middle is missing, however having borrowed one of theses from someone else's car it didn't help. any help or advise will be much appreciated. cheers shorts

right well i update for you, i finaly took the plunge and took the car into ford to see if they could sort it out, well i got the car back and its not be sorted, they said it might be the pcm but cant garantee it, they advised me to take it to the stains branch where the might be able to pinpoint the problem better, they also flaming charged me over

This may sound a daft question but do you mean the engine or the key turns? both Is it an auto...me thinking auto selector inhibitor switch......well I was right last time. nope manual

right i have finnaly changed the iignition switch and its made not the stittest bit of differance :) so does anyone have another suggestion of what else could be causeing this as its getting a reel pain in the backside now!! someone please help!!

can anyone advise me on which wire to check, i have have a look and there are 6 wires in total but i am unsure which ones to test and what the results should be. i have also tried whith another key and still the same

right well i am trying to get hold of a multi meter now, do you know what wires i should look at and what the voltages should be? sorry for being a pain but im new to car electrics lol

hi right first off my car: 1995 ford galaxy glx 2 litre petrol the problem: starting what happens is in the morning or afternoon whenever i go to start the car after its been standing for a while i have real problems starting it, when i turn the key the door led comes on normally and goes off after a couple off seconds as it should, but there is no humming from the fuel pump and if i try turning it over it turns but wont start, so basically i can sit there for ten mins sometimes turning the ignition on and off untill i hear the fuel pump, the the relay click and then it starts. after the first start as descibed above i can the turn it on and off at will with no starting problems at all, until that is its stood over night and then it all starts again. on the odd occation it will go first time after standing like the other day when i haddent used it for two days and it fired up first time :( what ive done: so far from reading these great forums i have tried changing relay 147 (i think that was the number) and relay 30, however when changing relay 30 i didnt realise my wife had turned the ignition on before i put it in, could that have blown the new relay? and i have also had the battery tested at quick fit and that came up purrefect. so now im stuck and dont have a clue what could be the problem apart from relay 30 if it might have blown or possibly the fule pump (which i realy dont want it to be as the cost a furtune) please help!!!

sucess, woo hooo well i managed to get the chip out of the light key and put it im my new remote key, and it now works :lol: left the other key as is as the wife has it so it can stay as a just door key and can still be used to start if needs be using the red key in the imobs ring so thianks for all your help and i now have a one key car :blink:

at the moment i need 2 chips, one from a solid normal key (the red one as its the only spare i have, and one from a key with a light in it. cheers shorts

ok so i cant reprogram the keys for some reason, so can anyone tell me the best way to get the chips out of my old key to put in my new keys without to much damage? cheers shorts

its not on the barrel its a big black ring that you can unclip from the barrel housing

i tried to program the remote key but in the end i dont think i have remote centerel locking :P

right i tried that, i have the new barrel in so i am putting the red key in the pats ring well away from the ignition barrel then using me new key to do the turning, however when i turn it the led (the one on the door) comes on straight away, but when i turn it off again and take it out it dosnt flash again. any ideas plaese shorts ps, using this meathod i am able to start the car and drive it. pps, just tried again and noticed the the red led seems to be on all the time although very dimmly when not doing anything.

hi ive have now fitted all the lockes and the barrel, at the moment i am having to take my red key with me to turn off the imobaliser, can anyone tell me how to do the reprogaming of my new key please, i have searched but i cant find it anywhere please help shorts

changed the locks now, all went fine, seems like i dont have remote centeral ocking though, just orders a manual now so i can see how to do the boot lock and the ignition barrel.

anyone got any ideas, i read somewhere that its just that one screew, but there must be some type of linkage internally, so any help on removal and refitting of the handles would be great

right i got the stuff today, unfortunatly i still need to get a manual,in the mean time can anyone tell me how to take the old handels off and put the new ones on? also when i got the set it can with a small plastic key and a small plastic barrel type thing, the key is the same as the others but i can thing what either thing could be for? cheers shorts

ah i see, well thanks for your help, sorry if i sound like a bit of a noob but this is the first ford i have ever had, ive always been a vauxhall man before but with 4 kids i needed a bigger car i the galaxy seemed nice. cheers terry
