  1. Hi Scrote, 1st post for a while. I have now owned a Passat 2.0 DSG Diesel Estate for the past 8 months after trading in my Alhambra as like you I didn't need the space especially as I have been on my own the last couple of years. The SEAT was a great car & served the ex & 4 children well, yes I miss her but in reality, didn't need the 7 seats & too many silly niggles with the A/C, Aux heater, Wiper assembly, Master & Slave clutch servo's. I also found that I was convenient taxi which p***ed me off at times. I love the B6 Passat for different reasons but it enables me to carry the kids & dog when required but serves me well as a solo cruiser. The car is packed with safety features, the 140 bhp is rapid especially with the DSG transmission, which is a must as it is the best transmission you can get. Electronic Handbrake with auto-hold is fab once you get used to it. The car blows warm air in 2 mins & cools as req using the semi-auto climate control. The car is much quicker than the SEAT but is lighter & has 25 bhp more, mpg avg about 43, 55-60 on long runs. My rec is test drive the Passat but make sure you try one with the DSG box.
  2. After 5 reasonablish years the Alhambra has now gone. Had my problems, including slave clutch servo fail 2 weeks ago, with 4 days to a family trip down south.... but she has been of great service to myself & growing children. Don't need all the seats now, as I have been on my own for the last year or so & very rarely needed to accomodate more than 5 but I like estates for the versatility & SEAT don't do one. I would like to thank all those past & present for their posts & assistance in this very helpful forum. This was my 1st VAG & diesel car & has prompted me to after several months of research into various brands to go for a 12 month old VW Passat Estate 2.0 TDI S 140 DSG. I managed to get a very good deal. In comparsion the car isn't as well spec'd as SEAT & can't fit all those odds & ends in the door pockets & plentiful cubby holes that the Bamma had. But it drives amazing, the 140 is so much smoother, quieter & responsive that the 115 but I guess that is progress. The DSG box is like no other auto I have driven, the automatic handbrake with auto-hold is again very clever. I urge you to try one. I will continue to stay in the background. Cheers Gareth
  3. May 06 at 77K I had my master Cylinder replaced. Anyway the last few months the clutch pedal has been sticking near the top, I put this down to a spring or something as after a few miles it would clear up. Well on Tuesday got in & clutch pedal is on the floor!!!!! Not again.. Anyway repair has 2 year warranty. So off on back of truck to dealer, unfortunately they have now discovered it is the slave, so gearbox off & big
  4. Pumpe Duse applies to all MK2 Shalaxy 1.9 Diesels including 90PS 115PS 130PS & 150PS VAG's alternative to Common Rail. Not used in new MK3 Galaxy, Ford using their own unit. Can be found in Audi's, Seat, Skoda & VW. Alhambra & Sharan now use 2.0 140PS in manual versions only.
  5. Yes & I'm still around !!! I've used the Millers XFE PD since then but may try the Comma next as it's cheaper.
  6. Left work 00:30 last night & was Ok no smoke, been ok today too. Strange
  7. Mine's smoking like hell again today, stinks too. Funny filled up with Sainsbury Diesel Saturday rather than usual Tesco, I recall a lot of smoke about 6 weeks ago when I used Sainsbury for Fuel. Or it could need a new glow plug, anyway I will have to wait & see, need a fill up later this week.
  8. Glad you got it sorted & a DIY job too.. Gaz
  9. Make sure that your run-on pump is working as this was causing my booster to start-stop as water wasn't circulating properly & system reporting as too hot. run-on thread
  10. I started getting this, had never happened before. I had recently being using Sainsbury's diesel, went back to Tesco & been OK. Could be just coincidence though?
  11. Had loads of smoke from mine recently ran low on diesel the other day so reckon it's the dregs from the tank. Had some funny looks!!!
  12. Mine went at rear box connection last month, new mid & rear sections required
  13. Wow it's been an expensive month. This is with doing my homework & getting the best deals. 1. 18th Aug, Frizzell Insurance renewed
  14. Well just had 2 new backs after 75K, always used Conti CH90 205/60/15 95H reinforced, now these have been replaced by Conti with Premium Contact 2, new pattern which are now known as extra load rather than reinforced. Also had middle & rear exhaust boxes replaced
  15. same here Sensor wow doesn't time fly
