if im gently braking my brake lights dont come on only when im hard braking?? could anyone help me with this as my mot is almost due. thanks.

i have a ford galaxy n reg 1996 2.0 petrol. when the car idles the engine revs hunt then car stalls, when driving the car is fine unless the revs hit 1000 revs then it stalls. my egr valve is cracked could this be the problem, also my temp gauge is faulty dont know if this is also the problem? could anyone help me as i have my mot coming up. thanks

when i put the car into reverse the reversing lights will appear for about 2 seconds then turn off every time?????
