I have recently purchased a 2002 / 52 plate 1.9tdi 115bhp ghia with 118k on the clock and have noticed an odd noise from the steering. When the steering is moving back from a right hand turn it makes a small noise that i can only describe as similar to a whoosh noise, a bit like the sound of an foot pump recharging with air, just before it reaches the centre postion again. Thie noise is only present on right hand turns of more than 45 degrees when turning back out, does not happen when turning left amd is the same volume regardless of engine / car speed and is no worse or better when the car is stationary. I assume that there is a fluid restriction taking place somewhere but don't have a clue where to look? I have noticed in the service history there is a comment re the power steering fluid being over the max level, could this cause it?

Carefully prise off the black bumper rub strips, you may have to take the number plate off first.

Hi, i recently purchased a 52 plate diesel ghia and have issues with the Parking sensors amd air con. I also found that a lot of the buttons on the dash did not move, i just pushed very hard and they worked normally from then on, it apperas they get stuck if not used for a long time. Give it a try. My parking sensor system was dead, turned out the control unit under the front passenger seat had been disconnected? I suspected that the rear wash pipe had come loose at some point and flooded it, the the rear wash works now so i guess this was fixed. I reconnected the control unit and all sensors on the rear were clicking, but only 3 out of 4 on the front, easy fix i thought! I popped of the rub strip from the one corner of the front bumper to find the fault, the clip that holds the connector in had broken so i just taped it together and put it all back. Checked the system and all front ones now clicking, but now the entire rear system is dead!! Not sure how that happened? Also my Climate control does not work, i got a mobile aircon specialist out who seemed to know his stuff and spotted what was wrong in about 5 seconds. One of the pipes had split hence the system being empty, guy quoted
