  1. I faced the same decision a couple of months back and decided to risk the eurocarparts driveshaft (they were and still are offering 25% off using code "megasave" bringing the cost down to
  2. Thanks for the reply - I never did find the gearbox code but my local TPS provided the correct oil seal for me which I fitted when I changed the intermediate driveshaft. Regards, James
  3. I plan to change my intermediate driveshaft soon for the improved polish version (currently on its way to me) and want to buy the shaft oil seal to change too. I asked my local VW dealer for this but they wanted to know the gearbox code. Anyone know where I can find this? Failing that, does anyone know the part number for the oil seal on a 2002 115 BHP Galaxy Ghia? Thanks in advance!

  6. Richardman, I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the thermostat replacement and whether you need to remove the alternator to get access to the bolts (it looked that way to me). I planned to change my thermostat last weekend but decided to postpone after seeing the tight access to the bolts. It didn't help that I initially made a wrong assumption that the 'stat was located in the housing where the top radiator hose attaches to the cylinder head (RHS as looking at engine). After removing the housing I found it was empty  Still, with the housing off, it made the coolant temp sensor change much easier :) BTW, this is my first post so thanks to all contributors to this great forum - I've been a reader for some time but having now purchased an '02 115BHP Ghia I expect to become a more active member.
