Whilst undoing the oil filter this morning, I have managed to snap th orange oil dip stick tube. I have ordered a new one and have bunged the pipe up to keep me going for a couple of days, but does anyone know how the pipe is attached to metal pipe, I can't get it to budge, i can turn it around but it obviously doesn't unscrew, and have tried just pulling it but due to th limited space I can't get a good grip and it will not budge. I don want to break what's left off as I don't want anything going down the pipe. Help.......

Intermediate Drive Shaft Inspection
Peter2904 replied to Peter2904's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
They are the standard 16" wheels. They are fine along with tyres, I checked the brakes and discs and calipers when I done the driveshafts the other day and they were all fine. Had a look at the top mount rubber and it oes look like it's starting to crack up, on the nearside so hopefully it is that, as mentioned in the mot advisory. Obviously can't see the little bearing that sits inside. How on earth do you get to the top nut on top of the strut, it looks like I won't have much skin left on my knuckles by the time I'm finished......what can be done for easier access, do you move the expansion tank out of the way, and remove that bit with rubber seal for the bonnet on that goes across the whole of the top of the engine bay...the nuts look rusty, I think some wd 40 sprayed on all week is going to be needed..... -
Intermediate Drive Shaft Inspection
Peter2904 replied to Peter2904's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Splines were not sharp, I am fairly confident that the shaft is not the problem. It is made worse if there is a heavy load, or my caravan on the back, which I think would point towards something to do with the suspension or wishbones, as the front is then made lighter......how do you take the rubber bearing/bush off at the top of the strut, any instructions would be great..... -
Intermediate Drive Shaft Inspection

Received and attached should anyone else want to comment. Nothing wrong with that one, the fact its greased.is a great thing as thats what is normally missing and causes the wear. The other engine mount is under the battery tray and a right pain to get to so I wouldn't even bother if the other two look fine. Thanks mirez Will have to learn to live with wobble.........I can't find anything that it could be...... -
Hello everyone, hoping someone can help. I have just replaced the two outer drive shafts on my gal, and it's fixed 98% of the wobble I was getting on acceleration, I no longer get any when going uphill on a motorway etc....the only time I get some vibration is when pulling away after breaking. I noticed that there was some play in the intermediate shaft so I am thinking that this is probably the problem. I have a 1.9 tdi auto, 2003 model. Ford have quoted me five hundred for the stub, and two fifty for the shaft. I have been told that the stub should be okay.....not sure how true this is but five hundred is bloody ridiculous . I have found a brand new intermediate shaft, not the stub but I am not sure if it will fit. It is advertised for a vw sharan, five speed auto, 2001-2008, saying it has a part number of 09B409356 2in4 . Does anyone know if that will fit. Also can anyone help with the part number for the stub, I have a part number of 1133088 for the shaft. Would be really grateful for any help, off to France in a couple of weeks so really need to get this sorted.......

Mirez, having just replaced the two outer shafts on my gal, which was really easy, I inspected the said part above and found like yours there was some play. With the two new outer shafts in place the drive is 98% better. I am only getting this wobble now when I initially pull away, and I get a shake when I initially apply the brakes. I am pretty sure it's going to be where the play from this intermediate shaft that is being taken up each time aftter breaking when I pull away that is causing this wobble/ vibration. I have emailed the company above but not got a reply yet, I am hoping that it will fit mine, it's a 2003 1.9 tdi auto, don't suppose you know if it would.......I'm off to France in a week and half so am pretty desperate to get this done.....

Replacing Driveshafts 2003 1.9 Tdi Auto
Peter2904 replied to Peter2904's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Also could anyone tell me what tool is required for removing the driveshaft bolts, I have torx bits but nothing that big.......... -
Hello all, I have just been informed that used car warranty does not cover the replacement of my driveshafts as they are worn not broken. Both sides need replacing. Does the offside shaft come with the little stubby shaft that goes, i think it was referee to as a middle shaft as I have been told that on that side thefts is wear on the male connector, or possible the female connector. Also, could a competent diyer do the job, are there any on line instructions, and how long does it take. Other than the driveshafts, are here any other parts that need to be brought to complete the job.......please help, my holiday is going to down the pan if I can't get this sorted.

That Galaxy Wobble

Yikes, I hope the warranty company don't wriggle out of it then......if they do manage to, is this something a competent diyer could do, I have not replaced a complete shaft before but six months ago I replaced the outer joint on my Volvo s70, in lue of a workshop manual, does anyone have any instructions........ -

Just been to friends garage, he had a look, and confirmed that the driveshafts have gone, at the inner cv end on both sides. The nearside is worse than the offside........ Why didn't fraud find this problem, are they actually mechanics that they employ..........just hope I can get it sorted now before we go off to France......and I have no idea what it will cost, it should be covered under a hendy ford warranty but I bet they manage to wriggle out of it.........any one got any idea......
