  1. Hi all, just thought I would share some info with you all. My Galaxy (2004 tdi 130) started making a small rattling noise that over the months has got progressively worse. I had thought it might be the springs in the rear seats that were making the noise, but I ruled that out by removing all of the rear seats. The noise got worse and sounded like maybe a heat shield rattling under acceleration. One day I sat in the car and tried to see where it was actually coming from. In the front it sounded like from the rear, and in the rear it sounded like from the front. Hmmmmm, then by chance I tapped the roof lining, and hey presto, a rattling noise ! The noise came from what appeared to be two stiffeners in the roof that have probably come unglued from the roof skin. I managed to wedge some foam between them and the roof skin (after removing the rear interior lights). The noise is gone now and my Galaxy is a pleasure to drive once again. Hope this helps any of you with a similar problem.
  2. Good news today, took the car to a local garage (non Ford) explained the symptoms to the owner and a few hours later got a call saying that a turbo pipe had come adrift. They said the clip was loose so drilled a hole and inserted a self tapping screw to hold the pipe in place. Result, my Galaxy is now back to normal, and all for sixty quid. Wonder what a Ford dealer might have charged for finding the same problem ???? Thanks to those of you for your help and advice on this matter.
  3. Thanks for that Chromedome, looks like trip to a garage, lets hope they can diagnose the problem and it isnt too expensive.
  4. Hi Fred, no smoke at time of incident but a few minutes later after some rough running, there was a puff of whitish smoke on trying to accelerate....hope its not a blown turbo, thatg sounds very expensive. thanks for your post
  5. Hi Gregers, thanks for your post, I did read it could be the stabilizer bar, I have tried to rock the engine and it feels very solid. Would this cause the car to struggle to reach 20mph with engine also spluttering ?
  6. Hi all, help please regarding a fault that developed this morning while accelerating in third gear. I was accelerating through the gears when all of a sudden there was a loudish bang from the engine and also felt something on the steering, as though i had ran over a bolt or something similar. From then on the engine would struggle to accelerate at all, coughing and spluttering so i could only maintain about 20 mph. The engine will idle fine and also accelerates when not in gear (although a little rough) . The steering and suspension are fine . There does seem to be more noise coming from the front of the exhaust ( possibly the downpipe area but cant see). I have scanned with vag.com and no error codes were found. The car is a 1.9tdi Ghia, 2004 model, 130ps. Any help gratefully appreciated
