  1. It is probably due a service, I think it was last done in March 2010, I have only owned it since January 2011. It's covered 86,000 miles and was last services at 78,000 miles. I suppose thats a good first step. Does anyone know what it needs? Air filter / Oil and filter / Fuel filter? Spark plugs? Cheers Sam
  2. Hi All, I have a 2001 ford galaxy 2.3 which has never been the most economical of cars but just recently it has started drinking petrol. Any obvious things to check? I have looked all around and cant see / smell any leaks and the car is being driven in the same style.... Cheers Sam
  3. Quick update.... Believe it or not the superglue fixed it........ for about 3 minutes then the cog split again but in a different place  Ford have quoted
  4. Sounds like a plan, I will give it a go! As it happens I have stuck the cog together with glue and it appears to be really really solid......... I don't expect for a second it will hold but seeing as I have to get another carrier anyway I thought I would stick it all back together and see what happens.... I fully expect it will break! Cheers for replies so far. Sam
  5. And there was me thinking I had invented a new way of breaking them! :)
  6. Thanks for your reply, there aren't many on ebay at the moment and they all seem to be going for about
  7. Hi All, I found this site yesterday after fitting a towbar and for the first time lowering the spare wheel.... It wound down nicely and even wound up right until it was about to clip in then it fell to the floor. After finding the photos in the technical section (Thanks!) I have taken it apart to find that everything is intact apart from the white cog that drives the cable shaft. This cog has split completely in half! I have read pretty much every post I could lay my eyes on about the spare wheel carrier and it looks like the usual cause of failure is the cable - mine is fine so I was wondering if anyone had a cog knocking around that I could buy, or even a broken wheel carrier that I could take to bits? It would probably superglue back together but I don't think it would be strong enough to lift the wheel. Car is a Galaxy 2001 (Mk2) 2.3 Thanks everyone, Sam
