  1. I think that I've finally sussed it. I was studying the relays yet again. In my handbook the only relays that are connected with any fan at all are R13 and R19 I assume talking about engine cooling fans. Anyway I took out R19 first and saw that it was a double contact relay so I bridged the two circuits in turn with a jump wire to see what happened and hey presto! my front blower kicked in! So I need a new relay 19 after all that. Thank you to all who took part in my topic. The information from aaronp was especially interesting but I'm glad that I don't need it..........This time!!? Regard Dave
  2. Thanks for your reply aaronp. If the blowers are electronically controlled does that mean that there are no relays? I'm not an electrical engineer but I am an apprenticed served motor technician with some 40 years behind me. mostly HGV and now I drive them. That's why I'm not too familiar with modern car problems. Do you think this speed control unit would be beyond my reach? I don't even know what it is, or where.
  3. Thanks. I've already had a good look under the bonnet but I will certainly take another look. Dave
  4. Yes this is an ongoing problem that I have put up with for a while now. I've tried on the forum in the past but to no avail. I thought that a fresh approach might bring some results. These relays must exist somewhere. Dave
  5. are you getting a vacuum in your fuel tank? If so you will hear a sucking noise when you release your cap.
  6. No. The physical layout of the fuses and relays are the same but a lot of the associated circuits are different. I just need to locate those hidden relays.
  7. Hi Thanks for your comments. Mine is a April 2000 W reg. Sorry for not mentioning that. Relay 4 in my book says it's the seat belt warning tone. that relay is one of the ones that is missing. Fuse 22 is good. Thanks Dave
  8. Hello to you all. My Galaxy 1.9td has Automatic Temp Control but the front blower will not work. Not the right time of the year for this! All fuses are OK. The digital display is OK as far as I can see. But I have no current at the front blower or at the red box that is attached to the blower housing which I assume is the resistor. So I think it must be a relay. After delving into levels 1, 2 and 3 of the central fuse box I can not find any relays that might be related to my problem. There are a lot of relays that seem to be missing through some of which are not needed for the 1.9td manual gearbox, but others are so I look for an aux fuse box. I look under the bonnet around by the battery. Nothing. I look under the drivers seat. Nothing except a couple of odd fuses and an empty bracket which looks like a bracket to hold relays but no relays found. Please please can someone help me. Where are these illusive relays??? Out of the 26 relays that are listed in my handbook I have only 11. Out of the 15 that are not to be found at least 5 do not relate to my model. That still leaves a good handful of relays that I just can't find. The rear blower works fine by the way. Thanks for your time in reading about my dilemma. Regards Dave
  9. Hello All. The front blower on my 'W' reg Galaxy does not work. I have checked the supply to motor and there is no current, nor at the resistor. Sometimes once in a while it works, then stops again. I've tried looking for relays but can't find any?? All I can think of now that it's the control panel above the radio that is at fault. This gives a digital read out that flashes several times when I start up. The rear blower works fine, but that don't demist me window!!!! I have located a second hand control panel for
  10. Hello Helpers. My Galaxy is producing some really nasty fumes when I start up. It's coming just under the near side rear door where there seems to be a mini exhaust pipe and I assume it's something to do with the heating. Sometimes there's quite a bit of smoke as well. Hope somebody can help. Thanks.
  11. Thanks for your suggestion topbloke. Wouldn't I still have top speed if the resister was at fault? And thank you bigdaddy although I don't quite understand how you answer helps me with my problem.
  12. It's a 2000 model with climate control. (I called it a heating and vent. system in my first post) I tried to take a reading in both the full speed and resisted position but my multi meter just read zero.
  13. Thanks for the fuse suggestion. I,ve taken all the fuse box covers off, stood on my head and looked up but can't see any other fuses. Thanks anyway.
  14. Mine is up behind the wiper motor. A small mirical is required to get it out and when you come to refit it.................ouch!
