  1. Hi, I have a 2003 2.3 Zetec with a problemaic fuel gauge. It generally reads full most of the time but does move all over the place each time i start the car. The only way i can get it to read true (ish) is when i disconect then reconnect the battery. It will go the the correct position for about 2 starts of the engine then seems to settle where ever it likes there after!! This is very frustrating and we have been cought out on a coupe of occations resorting to carrying a fuel can with us. I have tried another cluster and this did not register at all. If you turn the key but not to start the engine the gauge goes up to just under 1/4 of a tank then drops down to zero and tells me to refuel. I have changed the battery as this was low on power but with no improvement :-( Has anyone had simular problems or even any ideas what i need to do? Any help would be great!!
  2. Me too. must be faulty fob by the sounds of it. no joy at all entering program mode :-(

  6. Hi, New to this site as just bought the obvious. I have heard that the fuel gauge dancing can be due to low power in the battery? I had my battery checked as have the dancing gauge problem and my battery does need replacing. I charged the battery up over night and it seemed to fix the gauge but only for a few days. Buying a new battery anyway as starter motor is struggling so will post if any joy.
