Hi All I have been having intermittent starting problems with my mk 2 galaxy for about a year. On turning the key, the red led in the door will flash and nothing appears to be happening. After a couple of minutes, there is a small clunk from somewhere in the engine, the led stays on and the car starts. I have changed relays 30 and 167, checked the wiring going into the boot and the drivers door, checked wiring going into fuse box at front of engine. The issue went away, but then came back again. However, I have had success with the simple job of removing the shroud around the ignition switch, removing the connector on the left hand side and replacing it after a brief clean. So far, so good!
