  1. use an iso fix base with the tether that goes over the back of the seat to the anchor point.
  2. Dave, subframe off not a difficult clutch to change but time consuming. Took me five hours on a two post ramp.
  3. Hi, can you determine if the noise is present while braking? You have replaced the usual suspects but could be a brake pad rattling. Applying the brakes would take out any play and stop the noise.
  4. mmmmmm..... I dont think out of date software would cause an intermitant dash fault. more likely a broken dash to go with my broken hand brake lever!!!
  5. Did anyone have this fault rectified? My 06' Galaxy has developed this fault too.
  6. That download is for left hand drive cars, you DO have to lower the fuse box on a right hand drive galaxy.
  7. HI, Did the orange engine light come on? if so the engine management system sould have stored a fault code which can be red with a scanner. Possable causes could include, engine temperature sensor, idle controll valve, throttle housing contaminated with carbon. A check for fault codes would be the first step i think. would be interested to know how you get on!
  8. Glad you got it! Thankfully not a job you need to do at every service!!
  9. I have come across 2 faults which match your simptoms. first the egr valve sticks, this is at the rear right side of the cylinderhead when looking under the bonnet. not easy to get at. the second is the throttle housing at the front of the engine. it is of plastic construction and has a butterfly or "choke" flap inside. these can stick shut preventing air from entering the inlet manifold but the injectors are still firing fuel in, hence the smoke when it does start. cleaning these units only lasts a wee while. they usually need to be replaced. If it happens again you could remove the air pipe going to the throttle housing and operate the flap with your finger, it should move smoothly against spring pressure, if at first you feel it stuck closed you should replace it. Hope this helps. Fankle.
  10. Funbus, Release the fusebox by turning thumb screw 90 degrees then lift it up off its hinges. Taking care not to over strain the wiring, move the fusebox to the left. Now look to the right you will see the pollen filter cover near the bulkhead. It is secured with 3, 7mm head self tapping screws. Once removed you can slide out the filter. You will need to flex/bend it to remove and re-fit. Hope this helps, regards, Fankle.
