  1. Didnt seem to run better with just the pipe taped up! We have disconnected the Lambda sensor and took it out for a drive, it didn't play up, but sometimes it drives ok, so not sure if that has cured it. Going to take it out this morning as it usually does it first thing in a morning. If it doesn't mess around then i'm pretty sure it is the sensor. We are selling it so i'm going to get a sensor from the scrap yard and see if that helps. Thanks for your input.
  2. Hi, thanks for the reply. My galaxy is a 2.3 but it does have V6 on the rear of the car! So we just assumed it was a v6. After checking, my hubby says it is just a 4 cylinder. He has found a split in the pipe and taped it up, would that be good enough or would it be better to get another pipe? Many thanks
  3. On the back of my Galaxy it says its a V6. I just assumed it was but after checking, you are right it is a 4 cyl. Sorry i din't know i should post again, just didn't know how to change the title, so i re posted.
  4. Help needed with Galaxy 2.3 V6 GLX It is reving at near to 2000 when stopping at junctions etc. It loses power and 'judders' as if fuel isn't getting through, then all of a sudden the power comes back and it speeds up. Sometimes it feels as if it speeds up on its own! Smells of petrol. Checked the wires to the fuel pump, all seems ok. Fuel gauge sometimes jumps up and down. Plays up alot after its been parked up over night, then drives ok for a while, then does the above, on and off through out the journey, more so on hills. Any ideas anyone
  5. Hi New to this Forum thing, but really need help. I have a Ford Galaxy 2.3 V6 GLX, 1997 R reg. Lately it seems to be losing power, especially on hills and does this really wierd thing - (I am no mechanic and don't know the right words to describe faults properly so bear with me, lol.) Ok, in a morning when i first set off on the school run, it starts to 'jerk' as i'm driving. Sort of like when you are in too high a gear for the speed! Only i am speeding up as i have usually just set off driving. If i ease off and then re apply pressure to the accelerator, i can usually 'push' through it and after 30 seconds or so it's ok. When it does this it loses power. I have also noticed that my fuel gauge sometimes jumps up and down and also that on tickover it is reving higher than normal. Plus when it starts messing around, it drops power then all of a sudden the power just kicks back in and it goes like hell! Sometimes it doesn't play up at all. After searching the web, i found out that it could be the Lambda sensor or the Coolent sensor. Is it likely to be one of these? If we remove the Lambda sensor and it still plays up, what else could it be. I have taken it to my garage but his diagnostic couldn't read it! He thought it may be the wires to the fuel pump, but hubby has checked these and couldn't find anything wrong. Really need to get this sorted as i an selling the old girl due to buying a new car. Any help would be very much appreciated.
