I am not at all technical and didn't understand a lot of your post (my ignorance, not unclear post!). But I recently had a problem whilst in Spain where my 2002 tdi developed a desire to run on just 3 off its 4 cylinders. Ford Marbella diagnosed a problem with "injector 2". They "removed it, switched it over with injector 1, and then reprogrammed it" I have no idea what that means but it worked and has been fine ever since. They said they have seen the problem before and this usually works. We have done 1800 miles since and its fine. Hope this helps.
