I have a really strange problem with the drivers side electric front window. It does not work (either up or down) when the engine is running, but as soon as i stop and turn off the ignition, it works!!! Sometimes it does work, but then stops again until the ignition is switched off I cant understand what would be preventing it from working ONLY when the ignition is running.. Anyone have any ideas Thanks

i have EXACTLY the same problem on my 1998 2.8 V6 Auto Ghia X (with climate control) I have taken the servo motors off the side of the box (basically there are 2 on the right hand side). The lower one operates on a large toothed (cogged) half moon which is for the air flow direction (footwelll, windscreen, vents etc). The upper one operates on a cogged wheel which is almost entirely hidden inside the matrix and only a small part can be seen through a hole where the servo motor operates on this wheel. When removed, both servo motors operate normally, and changing the temp or flow direction operates the appropriate servo. However, when i manually rotated the cog which controls the heat, it failed to make any difference to temp and consequently i have established that the fault must lie within the matrix unit. I assume this controls a valve which allows the coolant to flow through the matrix and thus heat. I am guessing it is a fairly big job to remove the matrix completely, but i guess that is probably the only way to sort the problem. Alternatively, because of the high costs of repair/replacement, i have considered bridging the inlet/outlet pipes connected to the matrix inside the engine bay against the bulkhead, and thereby not passing coolant at all through the heater matrix. I know that would mean no hot air in the car, but at least i wouldnt be sweltering everytime i drive it! If anyone else can shed further light on the problem i would much appreciate it! Many thanks

Hi. Due to a problem with the heating (climate control) on V6 Galaxy, i suspect i am going to need to remove the Climate ControlInterface. Does anyone firstly know how it is fixed in place (above the radio cassette)? Secondly, how does it control the vent routing and heat? Many thanks

Thanks, BUT.... I dont think that the vents sticking would affect the fact that only hot air is being circulated. If this was the case then it would be the direction of circulation that would be stuck and NOT the temperature.

Have a 98® Galaxy 2.0 Ghia X The Climate Control seems to be stuck on HOT and whatever I try to do to turn the temperature down, it permanently blows out HOT air, regardless of any of the heat / airflow settings. I suspect that a 'valve' must be stuck somewhere and preventing it from opening/closing, but am not really sure how the climate control functions or controls the air flow or teperature. If it was standard (not climate control) temperature controller then i would assume the temperature knob is connected to such a valve, but with the digital setup on the climate control headunit I am a bit lost. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix this problem or what the problem might be? Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Guys Hope someone can help. Have been fitting car phone kit to my 98 Galaxy and in the process had to disconnect the head unit. Now of course, it's asking for the CODE!!! Please can anyone help me get sorted? Many thanks Darren

Main Dealer Garage have said that they CANNOT tell that information from the chassis number. Strange I know, but they say it doesnt give them such info..... Now where / what?

Many thanks..... i had already seen the other posts, but they indicate that the Ghia has remote locking as standard. I cannot see any domes in the vehicle, but the previous posts do indicate that it was an option on other models and standard on the Ghia. How can i be absolutely sure before i look into buying remote key fobs? Many thanks

Hi. Just bought the Galaxy, great car so far. BUT, did not come with the remote central locking key fob. Does anyone know a) whether it is capable of remote central locking (I thought I had seen that all Ghia's came with this) and B) where I can get the keyfobs. Many thanks
