hi all.... when i release handbrake the dash light goes out . but only 20 yards down road it comes on again...i got a 2.3 2000 yr galaxy ..any ideas would be appreciated ? thanks in advance steve

hi there... struggling to get p reg 2.0l galaxy through mot..failed on emmisions test .. so fitted new cat and sealed all exhaust leaks , fitted new lambda sensor ..both of which seem ok on test machine but it shows still running too rich .garage suggested getting ecu tested and maybe recon etc...anybody have any views or possible cures for this situation ... many thanks in advance steve

hi there i got same problem ...but was quoted over 200 quid for new cable and fixing it at garage...so where the end of cable pops onto the nipple i have pushed it on and using a small wedge have forced it in place (its the end of cable inthe circle thing on top of gear shaft then place a bit of strong tape over it ) it has lasted me ages hehe hope this may be ok for you steve...

hi there..just had a slight similar prob mine would only go in 3rd 4th if i tried 5th or reverse or 1st 2nd, it would slip back to 3rd 4th neutral position so i looked at the conector rods they were safely attached ok..so then with help from inside car sorted which selector cable was what..then realised that the top of the selector shaft was not moving downwards.. thus it had seized..so ended up taking battery and tray out etc for easier access.finally removed all the selector shaft casting and dismantled it all on kitchen table.. bearing in top of shaft was the problem..ordered one today six quid ..hoping to reassemble in next few days (if yours is similar and you take out the selector casting)..just beware there is a bolt at bottom of shaft that has a common fault on it ,that it may of sheared off..thus the head of bolt will be in bottom of gearbox...then you defo have to split the gearbox casting from engineand try a magnet in too find bolt.. hope this may of been of some interest too you ..best of luck with yours cheers steve

hi there also new on here but you seem to have overcome your probs, well done..just wanted to ask what is the 3 key thing you on about i have to open mine from passenger side or the boot with key (no alarm or fob thingy )but thats a job for future cos at mo in middle of selector shaft on my kitchen table the main shaft had seizedand just ordered new bearing six quid (just hope i can put it all back together lol).anyway keep motoring well done

hi cheers for reply ... took a load of stuff off car yesterday to reveal the gear selector stack it seems the vertical main rod is ceased the bottom bolt has not sheered as i 1 st thought may be the problem ..i aint a mechanic either but likes to have a go..gonna try sorting it today hopefully the good oldie wd40 may save me let ya no how i get on ..weather permiting too cheers

hi presume u got it fixed by now..but had same prob also...all i did was make a wedge out of metal tape and slotted it in the gap then metal tape over the top of it worked fine for many months..but now got another prob the same nipple bit seems fine and was still stuck on but think someat else gone wrong now cant select 1st or 2nd gear or 5th and reverse going out this morning too take gear lever apart to see if out sheared etc ..just thought i'd add some info good luck all...

hi all new to this forum and hoping someone can shed some light on my problem .i've got a p reg galaxy 2litre.. but im having problems engaing 1st and 2nd gears. if i try to put it in 5th or reverse it flicks back to neutral between 3rd and 4th . can still drive forward in 3rd and 4th but no other gears ?????...any ideas please..
