Indicator Control Stalk Renewal

My 2005 Galaxy 1.9TDI indicators have stopped working, I changed the fuse but it was still the same, then I tried holding the indicator stalk on the left side of the steering column, in the on position continuously and it worked reluctantly, but as soon as I relaxed the pressure they stopped working. So i'm assuming that that's where the fault is. IS this a garage job or one that I might be able to do myself? -

I have a 05 TDDI 130 Galaxy which idles a 900 rpm,is this to high ? and can it be reduced if it is?

My rear window switch needs fixing or replaceing, How can I get at it? the car is a 2005 TDI ghia.
