HI JUST TOOK ENGINE TO BITS AND THE NUMBER 1 PISTON IS ALMOST IN HALF BAR THE BOTTOM SKIRT AND HAS A 5MM HOLE IN IT ...ANY SUGGESTIONS OF WHERE TO SOURCE NEW PISTON ? ITS PISTON NUMBER ONE WHICH I BELIEVE IS SAME AS NO 2 BUT DIFFERENT TO 3 AND 4 ..SOMEONE ALSO SAID THERE ARE PIANT SPOTS ON THE BOTTOM TOO MINE HAS A SORT OF YELLOW BROWN SPOT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Hi Just bought 2000 w reg 1.9TDI galaxy (mk 2 shape) have a few little issues 1. it has fog lights but not sure how to get them to switch on ..the master light switch works clockwise and i thought if you push it in it will go anticlockwise but no ..any suggestions 2. the nearside rear door is locked and wont open off the key or inside how can i get it to open 3. radio code missing no paperwork. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Cheers for that ...if the turbo is leeking oil in the induction and exhaust sides(but still spins ok and works) could this potentially smash the rings or hole the piston or bend valves as there is defo no compression at all..is there any way of checking valves are closing or holed pistons from the outside?

hi Bought galaxy 2001 the weekend AUY engine with a supected turbo gone....it smokes but reves up to full but ticks over lumpy...i can here the turbo whistling faintly ...did a compression test and 3 seemed to be about 400psi except cylinder 1 which had none...on vag com it says cylinder 1 misfire...there is oil in the cylinder and on the glow plug and oil in the induction pipe and the removal of the oil filler cap shows a chuffing and smoke quite alot ..so holed piston? valve ? rings? how easy is it to get the head off? can the manifold and turbo stay on the head at removal...any help much appreciated..
