Thanks f0ster! I did manage to change it, but i now think it is out by a tooth as it runs OK on tickover but is sluggish and there is a feedback noise in the airbox on over run!

Hi all, i seem to recall seeing a link to a guide on changing the cambelt on a 1996 1.9 TDI but cant find it now! Can anyone help me with a guide to changing the belt please?

Got it sorted. The motor was not working. After scratching my head for a while i figured out that you can get to it from under the front n/s. Just pull off the barrel that attaches to the motor( with the pipes on it), and push the motor upwards and it slides out. I did find it easier to remove the indicator light next to the headlight, just one screw and it slides out. This way you can get to the motor from top and bottom, which made refitting easier. My motor had somehow rusted inside the plastic cover. I was able to clean off the rust and lubricate the spindle, put it back together and it works. Will replace it shortly but it is working as a running repair :angry2:

Hi All, Can anyone tell me which fuse and or relay controls the Front Screen Wash System? I have read that: Fuse 4 20amp is the supply for the rear wiper relay and rear motor. Fuse 5 10amp is for the wash wipe stalk and supply to intermittent relay. Fuse 24 is for front wiper relay and supplies wiper motor, it is immediately to the right of K175 on the bottom of the vertical row of four fuses. K11 intermittent wiper relay, bottom row 2nd from left. K64 rear wiper relay, above K11. K175 is the front wiper relay, top row 3rd from left. But what is for the wash system? Mine dont squirt, nor make any noise :blush: Also if i need to test the motor, how do i get to it? It appears to be behind the front bumper... TIA Stuart

OK thanks! will have a look at lunchtime (which is now!) Think i have figured out how to plug the other end into the laptop :blush: But will be sure to ask if not!

Hi All have just bought a P Reg 97 Galaxy GLX 1.9 TDI Have been trawling through the forums picking up tips etc, but have a question about Vag Com software...Where do i plug the lead into? Thanks!
