Is This The Funniest Listing On Ebay Ever?
Talisman replied to gregers's topic in Fun Games and Joke

I am quite new to this forum after just buying my first Shalaxy, in my case a MK1 Sharan. I paid just over £1600 for her and will do almost all of the work to her myself. This site seems to be mostly people who take their car to the dealers or other mechanics to have work done. This got me thinking, as most MK1 Shalaxys are now coming down to the "Budget" end of the market, this site will become an invaluable tool to those like me who have just reciently been able to buy a car that was perviously too expensive and who work on their own cars and wont use dealers. My question is this? How many of you out there in Shalaxy land own a mk1 and do most of your own work to it? Do you enjoy working on the car? As a previous owner of several different kinds of cars i would say that this is as easy to work on as some of the early 90s fords. I think that it is refreshing to look under the car and not need a computer science degree to diagnose a faulty fuel pump. what are your thoughts?

Grinding Noise From Front
Talisman replied to Munter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had this on a vectra - it turned out that the pads on that side where more worn on the inside than the outside. When you loaded the steering the backing material would grind as the disk flexed. -
Hello there, im a newbie myself - got a sharan and so far so good too.

I had mine done just last thursday after a yobbo put the screen in. I had fully comp so it was just the £75 excess. The technition quoted me a price of £700 for a quick clear screen, a price i now know is outrageous. If its any use i know that if the chip is bigger than a £2 coin or cracked the autoglass guys cant repair it. Please find out first before you hand over 70 odd quid. http://www.autoglass.co.uk/?ins=wm11&type=paidsearch&cid=s1c&gclid=CLyG8c3EiKcCFcomfAodfESbdQ <this is a quick guide to what they can do. Incedently, on how easy do thay get chips in them, yesterday on the motorway - thump - new chip in a 2 day old screen, id say yes, they are prone to chipping. Also the top section of the roof where it meets the glass i have just had to rust treat there arter the previous owner didnt bother covering the stone chips.

If you dont have the column controls it will just be a standard DIN stereo that fits in the housing. Any standard stereo will fit it. If in doubt, take the stereo to your motor factors and ask if they have a conversion lead, most carry them for most cars. You will probably find a manual for the car wiring - but not the stereo so that could be difficult. Most standard stereos have a standardised connector which is brown or black and consists of two blocks side by side - one is for speaker wirng and the other is power etc. Other stereos with steering wheel controls will have a third block, most of the time if this bloack is not used - the stereo will still work with the standard buttons anyway. Hope that helps.

This might make you smile, i bought an 03 plate C5 for 800 quid (fap and filters needed doing so it was a fair price.) Within a week of owning it everything shut down or refused to work. Took it to the stealers and they blew though their teeth and shook their heads. All up the bill was just shy of

Hello all, Sites not dead - just no one has any reason to post. I joined the other day - used the search button A LOT :) and now i have all my answers and i can toodle off. Except im not like that, its a bit quiet sure, but its not dead by a long shot. Here is what you need to compete. 1 - working chat! - or a shoutbox 2 - a forum update tool to shaw at a glance what has been updated and where. No good not knowing where the new posts are, people must stay current. 3 - A gallery. I want to see everyones Shalaxy's. None of the piccys work in the "show us yours" section of the forum. 4 - a small membership fee, just a couple of quid, it gives a reason to come back for the best value for money. If i had to pay I would be more miotivated to come back "to get my moneys worth" also it gives a real sense of membership. If you dont want to make any money, donate the whole lot to charity. I bet you her a dozen or so signups a week, noone needs to stay - the go to the tech section - and bugger off. Im sticking around - i like to lurk. :D
