  1. Update - Sorted it!! Just in case anyone in the future should search for this thread, I feel I should share how easy this was to fix. It really needs a picture, rather than trying write a confusing explanation. Due to the strange & long hours I work, the first chance I'm going to get to take a picture in the daylight is at the weekend.
  2. Looked solid, like there was nothing out of place. The connector I'm talking of looked like a mechanical device, presumably a link from the pre-tensioning system. I'm assuming this hasn't deployed as there was no impact involved, and no bangs or woooshes were heard. Like I said is just lent forward quickly. I'm assuming the standard locking system has done it's job (too well) and just needs a little encouragement to release the reel. With such an important bit of safety kit, one doesn't like to dive in recklessly. Was hoping someone had come across this before and may know what little splash of magic needs working?
  3. I lent forwards a bit too far & quickly yesterday trying to see properly at a junction which is at odd angles. Usual type of thing happened, got pinned to my seat because the reel had locked up, but wouldn't release again. When I got to my destination the belt retracted back as it should, but now I can't pull it out to put it on again. I tried all the normal stuff of giving it a yank and releasing, pulling it really gently and slowly, giggling it up and down, had a little drive up and down to change angle of vehicle, and hoping the vibrations would release it. Nothing has worked, it stubbornly refuses to pull out and be worn! Just popped the trim panel off to see if I can see anything obvious (in the growing gloom of darkness!) and can't spot anything that I would consider out of place. Has anyone else found if there is a release lever for the inertia reel? I also noticed a large connection that I'm guessing is related to the SRS system. Could it be the SRS that's holding it, and would a power off and on release it? Thank You (as ever!!) in advance.
  4. Thanks very much - Don't know how I missed that, I looked through the FAQ's before posting........obviously didn't look hard enough!
  5. May seem like an obvious question, but I can't find them? The Ford manual reads like there is a 2nd level to the fuse box under the driver's side dash board? Had the car since December, and becoming thoroughly fed up of finding damage and bodge jobs from the last owner. Although, the repair they have done to the wiper linkages using an old door hinge is quite inventive (almost worth posting a picture before it goes in a skip). They obviously broke the monkey metal frame whilst doing the usual un-jamming exercise. Is the 1.9 TDi particularly difficult to work on, or am I just getting old and cranky? Had and MG F and thought that was a real pain to work on, this beast makes seems that seem like a breeze!! Thanks in advance!
  6. Good Evening, I've had my Mk2 Galaxy for a week now and enjoying it! I've had the use of many different MPV's and vans over the years, but this is the first Ford I've driven in many years. Glad I've found this site - not had much of a poke around yet but already found some useful info, so it's a good start :-) Quick question - A friend bought me the Galaxy Haynes manual for Christmas, but it's for the MK1. Haynes don't do a manual for the MK2. So - will the Mk1 manual be any good to me? Is there huge difference mechanically between the Mk1 & Mk2, or was it all cosmetic re-styling? Many thanks in advance, and I look forward to using the site!
