  1. Sorted it. Had to re-wire the ISO lead to supply a 12v switch to the amp wire (which took me fecking ages to narrow down)
  2. Narrowed it down to amp not powering up. Nxt problem is figuring out what to do to power it up. I have on wire coming from the car harness that has no mate on the iso lead but has 5 volts going through it. Not quite sure what to do, im guessing I have to send a switch voltage to the amp same as any amp but im not sure how to do it. Please any suggestions? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/nattt/IMG20110412_001-1.jpg
  3. Hey. I have a 1998 V6 Ultima with the 2007 rds headunit with multi-changer fitted as standard. I want to put my DVD player in so I bought a ISO Lead as instructed. I bought the PC9-402 lead that I was told was the correct one as my car has the amplifier fitted. Anyway I fitted it thisafternoon and the headunit powers up and works fine but I have no sound. The headunit worked fine before and was only a few months old when I removed it from my last car so I doubt the problem is my DVD unit. Re-fit the standard headunit and I have sound. Cant figure it out. Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Hey. I decided I wanted to fit a DVD headunit to my MK1 Gal ultima so did my research and bought the propper ISO connector, PC9-402. The standard item is the 2007 with the amp and cd multi-changer fitted. Problem I have is no sund. The DVD headunit powers up and operates fine but I have no sound. I know its not the headunit as it worked fine when I took it out of my last car. Plug the standard item back in and the sound works fine. Cant figure it out, any suggestions? Thanks
  5. Maybe a sign of headgasket giving up the fight? If it is 'steam' and not oil vapour then it suggests water getting somewhere it shouldn't. *Edit* - Bugger. Where did those replies come from? Weren't there when I hit reply. lol
  6. Thanks for reply Mike. Got a wire coathanger and a 5ltr bottle of water. I had a root around for the scuttle drains and surprise surprise they were full of gunk. Spent a good 20 mins jamming the coathanger down the holes whilst pouring large amounts of water over the windscreen and into the scuttle itself. Appears to be draining very well now so will have to wait and see if thats cured the problem, due more rain thisafternoon so.... Had a look under the drivers seat and found a nice puddle of water sitting there, so next job is to get both seats out, (under pass seat is dry thank god as there seems to be some kind of computer parked under there) and lift the carpet as best I can and replace the underlay as theres no way thats gona dry on its own. Once all thats done i'll rip the sunroof apart and see whats what. Sigh.......then the bloody MOT on Wednesday. Hahahaha. It never rains but it pours.
  7. Should have done a search in the first place as Ive found a wealth of information on the topic. Thanks for the swift reply chris.
  8. Well, Galaxy ownership has not been kind to me thus so far. Todays issue: After a night of heavy rain I got into the car this morning to find what can only be describes as olimpic size swimming pools in both front footwells. My immediate thought went to Heater matrix. Si I checked the water levels, and going by the ammount of water in the footwells Id guessed about a litre of water, maybe more so I would have noticed the missing water int eh header tank. Not that, water level is fine. SO I must conclude its due to the rain. Next quiestion, howz it getting in? Door seals was my immediate thought, but once on the road I could hear water dripping and could also see it freely running into the footwells from under the dash. Now, when I turn right or the car leans to the left, I hear what sounds like leaves or somethning bunched up in the N/S/F wheel but I think its water getting about the blower motor, a look under the pass side dash confirmed water leaking from around the blower motor area, I havnt been able to locate the leak into the drivers side yet. So, can anyone please shed some light? Ive no idea how the water could be getting in. I was parked on a bit of a slope if thats any clue, the front was a bit lower than the back. Any info is very much appreciated. P.S. Its a MK1 Galaxy 2.8 Ultima Auto. Many thanks
  9. My little act of defiance. hee hee. Just to add a wee note to this post. Shown my noobishness (even a word?) saying I have a Ghia when in fact im told its an Ultima. :o
  10. Im guessing its a manual and not an auto box? Before you start with the expensive replace the gearbox route, have you looked at the more obvious stuff yet? First place id start is the gear linkage itself, either over time or as the result of an impact (hit any big potholes recently?) the gear linkage can become misaligned. Even the smallest misalignment can cause the box to jump out of gear and make gears difficult to select. Id start with that if I were you my friend, get the obvious stuff out the way first before shelling out the
  11. Hi all. My names Natt and I bought my first Galaxy about a week ago. Its a MK1 2.8 V6 Ghia in blue. Not normally my type of car but 'she who must be obeyed' demanded it was time I grew up and bought a sensible family wagon. She's (the car not the wife  ) on an 'R' plate, has covered 108000 miles with full service history and a new auto box fitted bout 3 years ago cost circa
