  1. Booked in for next week, thanks for the help guys. Happy Xmas
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Going to try and get them done this week, just to be on the safe side. As a side note none of the garages could confirm if the sensors are only on the front pads, seems they may be on the rears for later model Sharans (not sure about the Galaxy). Hope its only the fronts, given the other costs at this time of year
  3. Hi Had two very different opinions, both from independent VW garages on the length of life left in brake pads once the sensor light has come on. One says 200 miles, the other 1500 ! Brakes feel 'normal' at the moment. Who's right ? Is the garage saying 200 just after my business more than the other one ? At least they were both offering to fit for very similar prices, give or take a few quid. Cheers John VW Sharan 2004 TDI SE
  4. Hi All At least were not suffering these "interesting features" alone  I had a quick look at the car tonight, actually when closing it does sound ok, its more when opening that the feel or sound is different to the other 3 doors. It also drops slightly when opening. Sasquatch, my car was bought August 05 so probably not too far off yours.
  5. Had exactly the same issue with my 2004 Sharan, same door too ! Dealer has fiddled a bit on 2 occasions, mainly with the door catch I think and it now closes 95% of the time ok, but it doesn't have the nice clunk that the other doors have when closing. Also feels different on opening but seems just as secure as the other doors. Shut lines are slightly out on the lower part of the door but nothing significant. Car was bought new.
  6. Perhaps its not a dog ...... :D Thanks for all the replies !
  7. Thanks Blatters - good idea about getting in touch with Bridgestone Tim-Spam - the wife drives it 6 days out of 7 and is the one who's kerbed the alloy :) however its not badly damaged and I've been keeping an eye on the condition of the tyres ever since the first incident. No obvious chunks of rubber missing from the sidewall until the blowout yesterday. I don't know of any obvious kerbs that she'd keep hitting :) If it wasn't for the kerbing damage I'd immediately suspect the car or the tyre at fault - but I've not had this kind of issue in any previous cars including other MPV's.
  8. Bridgestone is/was factory fit by VW. Also had Bridgestone on prev cars with no issues. But yes, probably will go for another make next. Thanks
  9. Hi All Anyone else had problems with tyre sidewalls on the Shalaxy's ? In May 05 had to replace front nearside tyre after it developed a large egg sized bulge in the sidewall. Now some 9 months/8k miles later the same wheel suffered a blowout yesterday (low speed, no drama thankfully). Both tyres were re-inforced bridgestones and pressures were checked every month. As I don't drive the car regularly when I do I always notice the very firm/harsh ride over rough surfaces. Car's an 04 Sharan TDI 130 SE - which does have firmer suspension than other models in the range. The alloy has been kerbed slightly by my wifes parking but would that really contribute to knackering the tyres ? To me 2 similar failures in such a short time is either very bad luck or something isn't quite right in the suspension perhaps which causes undue stress on the tyres. Having said that the tyre wear looks pretty even. I'd welcome your thoughts ..... Thanks
  10. Ooh, that's me told off then :) Good to see you're all chilled and don't take offence easily :( Nearly forgot ..... thanks
  11. Hi all, Can anyone tell me how to remove the cubby hole in the dash of an 04 sharan ? Want to install VW standard single cd player in between radio and air con units. Will I need to remvoe the radio in order to plug the cd player into it ? If so I guess I need to get some removal keys ? Thanks :P
