Hey, thanks for posting the photos of the inside of the key, and the PATS chip. I found recently that my Galaxy key (the "spare") wouldn't start the car - it would lock/unlock remotely, but when trying to start the car, it would turn over, then die. The other key would start it fine. I remembered that the key had fallen apart in my pocket a few weeks back, and tonight I just happened to find an odd piece of plastic in my pocket - after looking at the photo, and supergluing the strange piece of plastic back into place inside the key, hey presto - it starts the car again!!!

Sorry if this is a bit basic! I have a T reg 2.3 Ghia X and I'm trying to check the fuses. I can open the fuse box, by unclipping and pulling down the cover on the dash, but the fuses are covered by a clear plastic cover - how can I remove it? Cheers...

Garage say its the fan as well. Decided to get them to do it in the end. They're charging me

Yes, I unplugged the fan (well actually both of them went off - couldn't just unplug the suspect one) and all was smooth with the aircon on. Kind of a relief as it excludes the more expensive probs... doesn't it?

I've seen mention of people replacing the middle lap belt with a "proper" lap & diagonal belt e.g. from Securon. Has anyone got any more info on this, or other solutions? I have three kids all who need seats - I have found Britax do a couple of seats that fit on lap belts, so thats another option, but thats only up to four years old. What have other people done who have more than 2.2 kids and a pre-2001 Galaxy?

Good idea! I'll have a look tonight. My mechanic skills are very limited, but I should be able to do that if its easy...

Thanks. I opened the bonnet and turned the climate control on, and it started shaking alot and was noisy, but it is difficult to pinpoint where its from. Fan does sound likely though, as they replaced the first fan because of a prob. Going back to the garage on Monday. They should do it for free as I noticed the problem (and they said they had fixed it) before paying for it. BTW - any idea how much it should cost to replace fan if broken? I think its possible they realised both fans were on the way out, but only replaced the worst one...

Prefer new, but would consider 2nd hand (sorry, pre-owned!)

Can anyone recommend somewhere, preferably on-line, to get Galaxy spares? It would at least be useful to know how much the spares really cost, compared to what the garage charges... Would Alhambra parts from GSF be interchangeable?

Hello... I've just bought a T reg 2.3 Ghia X. Before buying it we found there was an extremely nasty (screeching) noise coming from under the bonnet when you turned the climate control on. It was coming from (one of) the rad fans, so the garage agreed to sort it before we took delivery. They did change the fan and the bad noise did go away, but I have since noticed that there is still a noise and vibration coming from the engine/fans when the air con is on. Its not nearly as bad - before you could hear it inside the car. It does appear to be the other fan (the one that wasn't changed). Does that sound likely? How much are they to replace? What else could it be? Apart from that the car drives fine and the air con does work (gets cold OK). Just a bit noisy. It was bought as a "trade sale", so they aren't going to be that helpful if I bring it back (however I have since found that writing "no warranty given or implied" is a restictive staement and is illegal)
