  1. Try your VW dealer for the new loom if you decide to get a replacement. I had exactly the same problem but I immediately went to a Ford dealer for it and parted with £120. Found out later the same part would of been £70 from VW. Only problem is they couldn't guarantee it was the right part as it was going in a Ford but they would of given a refund it it was incorrect. Its worth a punt. Job is ok to do. Just one or two of the nuts on the back of the rocker cover really fiddly. Cheers
  2. Think ive decided now to take the wired one back and save a few quid and get the standard one instead. If its an equivilant to the one fitted then i will be happy. Cheers
  3. Hi. Do you reckon given the previous post from Billywizzo i'd be better off staying with the one i've got. If its a better part i may bite the bullet and keep it.
  4. Thanks for that.I think i will take it back as i may be
  5. Thank you very much fot that. Much appreciated . I will post what the outcome is. Cheers.
  6. Hi all .Finally got around to getting a new plug for the auxillary heater.Eventually got one from the local VW dealer as it was cheaper than Fords. VW part no7M3-963-319-A.The plug supplied has two leads on it . White and dark brown and comes with a note to show where to put the wires in the plug connector. All very well. However i am not totally convinced that it is the right part as i believe the existing plug has a threaded top.Is it permissable to fit the new plug or have i got the wrong part? The guy in VW said that the part ive been supplied is the only part available from them for the DW5-Z heater.Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  7. Hi.I have just bought a glow plug from VW dealer for my D5W-Z auxillary heater on my Galaxy. It has exactly the same number on it as the VW part in your post.Would you know if its likely to be the correct part as the attached wires are confusing me a bit. I understand that the existing partv in the heater has a threaded top and no fixed wires.Cheers.
  8. Thanks for the replies. The car is a Mk2. 90 ps. 53 plate. On the tab on the unit it says D5W-Z or at least it looks like that. Its a bit faint . It also states its a 5kw model. Cheers
  9. Hi all, Have finally got around to looking at the heater problem. I dropped the unit out this morning and found the redwire on the connector plug (heater unit fly lead) to be corroded. Soldered in a new piece of wire and tried the unit. It still didnt fire up. Gutted. I thought i'd cracked it :( . Would it be necessary to have to reset any fault codes etc before it might fire up ? I couldnt scan the heater module when i tried before beacause obviously there was no power getting to it which is why i was chuffed when i came across the broken wire. Ive got to get this fixed. The wife has said so. Thanks.
  10. Hi all . Just a quick note to say i eventually got a loom from Fords and fitted it a couple of weeks ago. All seems fine now. The job was ok and i didnt remove the egr either.I loosened the two horrible bolts on the back and turned them out with the smallest most crap socket i could find with a little piece of petrol pipe taped to it. Thanks for the replies. Cheers
  11. Thanks for that. I will move on with it. I dont think the guy in Frauds could be bothered to look. Cheers
  12. Hi all. looks like ive got a problem with a faulty wiring loom to N01 injector. Had the car scanned this morning and it had numerous codes all relating to that injector. Rang a local diesel specialist and was told that my intermittent misfire sounded like it was probably faulty wiring that was to blame as the wires run in the rocker cover and can fail. So i rang the local Ford main dealer to get a price on a new loom section for the injectors. He told me it comes as part of ther main engine harness and was mega bucks :) . Any body know different ? The car is a Gal 1.9 tdi 90 ps . 2004 Cheers
  13. Thanks i will have a look as soon as. Cheers.
  14. Hi all. The Mrs has mentioned that the Gal has been "juddering" as she put it a bit recently. Its happened a few times then clears and it runs fine. The car came back tonight and it sounded like it was firing on three cylinders.I killed the engine and restarted it. It fired perfectly. I took it down the road and give it some stick and no problem. Any ideas? Cheers. Its a 90 hp Tdi
