Where Is Best To Sell Your Car
golfmadman replied to golfmadman's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I was thinking along the lines of Autotrader or a classified on Ebay, I think the auctions dont work that well!. I am unsure what to ask for Galaxy as there are so many conflicting prices. Its a 1.9 diesel with 100,000 on clock on an 02 plate with FSH in generally good condition, stone chips and the odd scratch aside? any thoughts -
I am looking at selling my Galaxy, but where is best to sell? Does anyone know of the most successful place i.e Autotrader / ebay. It will be a private sale as I have already got a new car and it will be sad to see it go but it must go!!!

Misfire Only When At Running Temp
golfmadman replied to golfmadman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Latest update. Took Gal to Local Injector Specialist who diagnosed that Injector Unit was not firing and advised that injector needed changing which needed to be done by Ford. The reason was advised that the wiring was meeting high resistance as it heated up hence why it was Ok when cold. Ok, what ever you at least I have been given an answer this time. So dropped it off to Ford today and have advised that the injector wiring loom is the fault and needs replacing, -
Go to the technical section and my post is four below yours. Let me know how you get on with swopping the injector.

I am having a problem with a Misfire that only happens when warm, a local garage read that mine was misfirng on Unit injector No1 and advised me to take it to ford to have the system changed, er, not yet. I need to find the link to why it only happens when warm but runs perfect from cold. A few posts have been added as to what it may be and I will follow those up first. Have a read of my post and see if anything there helps. Is yours constant, only when cold or just intermittent?

Misfire Only When At Running Temp
golfmadman replied to golfmadman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Drove to work again today, and to confirm the symptom, when the temp reaches about 70 it starts to Judder, feels like the car is trying to pull then lagging off. This happens for a few minutes when it then settles to a constant misfire that is quite bad below the 2000 revs mark, vibrations feels like the front gunner on a lancaster bomber when pulling away  Think I will contact GSF and order temp sensor just in case and have a good look aorund engine bay the weekend when I have daylight. Will try to find another specialist to confirm what is going on but have also booked into the Fraudsters on the 3rd if all else fails, hope I can cure it before then!! Thanks for help to date, will keep you posted on any resolution but any other ideas are gladly received. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy new year for now. -
Hi all, its been a long time since I have posted but I have viewed over the months and found the help invaluable. From a diff bearing, to broken drive shaft, to anti roll bars, tyres, brakes and a battery its been an expensive year. Now I have another problem (its been a bad year) . As my Gal (1.9 diesel 115bhp) warms up the temperature gauge acts a bit erratically going up and down quite quickly from 50 to 70 c. When the car finally settles and hits 90c or there abouts the engine starts to misfire but it runs perfectly up until this temperature. I have viewed several post on a similar issue but there has never been any solution to the problem. I have took it to several garages, some have had no reading from the system. Finally, Lucas by Dudley advised that unit 1 injector is not firing and I need to book into Ford to have it replaced. Ok, this sounds a bit expensive but I could go along with it but why only when warm? I would appreciate someone help on this plus if anyone can recommend a good garage in my Area of Stourbridge who can fault find and work on Galaxy's as most I have got out of Yellow pages either have turned down the work or advised that they can't fix it. HELP !!

Resetting The Service Warning
golfmadman replied to golfmadman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the quick reply ! I will give it a go tonight and let you know. -
Just had the old Gal serviced, not by an authorised dealer but by a buddy and the service warning is coming on telling me a service is needed in 1200 miles (had it done early due to a horrible noise coming from gearbox). Can someone explain how I can turn it off or does it have to go to Fraud?

Purplemadboy, i know its off subject but what are your thoughts about the freelander. I keep hearing mixed reviews and mainly end up being told they are horrible to drive and have expensive problems with them. I will be changing our second car next year for some small 4x4 type and am looking at RAV4, Xtrail (prob too new), CRV and freelander. ?

Recommend A West Mids Ford Dealer?

Steve, let me know how you get on as I would probably use them in future if needed as I do not hold a lot of faith with my local branch in Stourbridge. Gav -
Recommend A West Mids Ford Dealer?
golfmadman replied to BrummyGit's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I have been told that the Ford dealer in wombourne has a good reputation, just follow the road from Himley house to Bridgnorth for about 3 miles. I have not used them myself but people I know have and I have not heard any of them complain. -

A great big bloody FOG HORN that deafens the idiot in the next car who is just about to open their car door onto your "already battered from previous idiots" door. Otherwise I think I agree with what everyone else would like :) -
Tdi Loss Of Power (again) - Resettable
golfmadman replied to wytonpjs's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have not sussed out how to add a thread yet but if you go to General questions and look at No Go from Golfmadman you will find a load of replies surrounding this sort of problem. Ps, how do you add a thread to another post? :) -
I have been monitoring my instances of No go over the last few weeks and my loss of power only ever appears to coincide when the car has been switched off for a short period, up to 15 mins after a decent run, it does not happen on shorter journeys, or so the wife says :D . When re-starting after this short stop the problem is there of a non-existent turbo. When you switch off and restart after a longer period of time, a couple of hours say, there is no problem. The only thing i have not done is to switch off the engine once the problem is there and see if it re-sets at that point. Why would this be?

There was a guy on Radio 5 on friday tea time who was saying that he expected prices to continually increase over a long period, he was talking years, particularly with the Hurricane and its devastation of the oil refineries in the gulf of Mexico. Goods new though, he did say that as they would be making a fortune out of us :( it would spark more companies to research new Oil fields in an attempt to jump on the gravy crude train and in about 5 years there would be a glut of fuel available and prices would come down. I cant wait !!

found this one from Wizzo on 22nd august "2001 2.3 Ghia Galaxy imported from Singapore. Bought car with only one non remote door key. Bought 2 new remote keys from Fords as they said they'd be able to tune them in to the car. Fords however, after an hour couldn't get the remote central locking to work. Keys open and start car manually but not via remote. Apparently to set up new keys the key goes in drivers door and you turn it forwards 3 times and the little red light on the top of the door should stay on, then you press both buttons on the key and the remote is set. I can't get the red light to stay on. Is there any difference in the frequencies of the remotes for other countries. Any ideas appreciated" type "keys" into search field

I had to pop into my local ford to ask about locking wheel nuts. Lost mine the previous week and then the brake light has started flashing so was getting in a bit of a panic so went down to the local garage to enquire about getting a replacement locking nut. Told I needed a unique card to my car that should be in the service documents, well it wasn't, so he said that the only chance to get them off was to get the "lads" in the garage to do it and it may take them a while, from 30mins to and hour so he had "better" charge me the hour rate of

I have just finished going through questions and answers from a search regarding MAF's (obviously a popular topic) and I think from all your feedbacks the best thing to do is unplug it, if the cars better then get a new one, if no difference come back to you guys for other recommendations. now know what it is, where it is, how to test it and where to get it from. FANTASTIC.

I was going to Wales the weekend to Aberdovey. I was getting a but fed up with this slow driver in front so, as you do, put my foot down to overtake. The Galaxy started to accelerate relatively slowly and I realised that the Turbo had not kicked in. So there I was trying to overtake this car and basically going no where except a white kuckle ride trying to squeeze the Galaxy past before anyone came around the corner about 2 miles ahead! Got to Dovey, albeit slowly, unpacked the car and went our for a meal a couple of hours later and the car was back to normal. Any Ideas what would cause the intermittent power loss?

My Green Galaxy seems to attract dive pooh bombers whose aim always hits the passenger windows, the Wife's little silver megane cabriolet is never hit, roof up or down <_<
