  1. Sorted - can confirm that you can put the car into "sync" mode using the passenger door lock. The fob is now reprogrammed and working fine - of course if it's on its way out it may not last for long. Thanks for your help!
  2. Thanks for the reply - I did try with the passenger side yesterday, but had no luck. I'll give it another go tomorrow. It sounds like my fob could be dead - it has been intermittent for a while. I'll see if I can track another down, but as the car is going up for sale, I may just sell as is and reduce the price further. Sigh...
  3. The remote plipper for the cental locking stopped working on my MK2 Galaxy TDi 115 (2000 X). So I changed the batteries - still no luck. When I press the button, the light on the fob flashes as normal, but the car does not respond. No problem I thought, I'll resync the fob with the car. However - I cannot put the car into programming mode as the key will not operate the driver's lock - it will not turn at all - it works fine in the bootlid, ignition and passenger door (and the central locking works fine). So I have two questions: 1) Is there another way of putting the car into learning mode to sync the key fob? (I have VCDS Lite if that helps) 2) Is there a fuse that could stop the receiver for the plipper from working (I've had a look in the fuse list but can't see anything obvious). Thanks!
  4. I assume you are talking about the plastic orange part of the tube? Yes I've done it and it is fairly easy as long as everything is nicely warmed through (including the bottom part of the plastic pipe) - if you don't warm it through first, the push fit to make it snap into place is much harder and you can end up snapping the new part before it even goes on!
  5. I have a Thule one which goes behind the tow bar - it works well and can carry up to 4 bikes. I find it difficult to get the bikes on and off without scratching them though (the carrier has two arms which come out, which you slide the bikes over). Thule do a 3 bike one as well, which has tracks for the wheels to go on - I think this would be more satisfactory. I also have a Thule indoor carrier which is way better as far as I'm concerned (for security, safety, economy and keeping the bikes scratch free), but obviously at least 3 seats need to come out, depending on how many bikes need to be carried...
  6. Point taken: Mk2 1.9 TDi 115PS, AUY, 6 speed manual gearbox Registered October 2000 - very early Mk2 with lap belt in the middle seat. In silver. Magic tree air freshener. Fitted mats. ;)
  7. Is there a diagnostics flow chart for the AC system somewhere? I switch my AC on and: 1) The light comes on solid on the button (i.e. NOT flashing) 2) The fans do NOT come on 3) The compressor does not appear to kick in (revs don't drop) No faults logged on VCDS I toggle the AC button and I can see the AC "flag" come on and go off correctly when logging. Do the fans not coming on indicate that there is some kind of output issue from the control unit? Just need to know where to start really before ripping bits of the system apart.
  8. Thanks! Not the ford one I was looking for, but looks perfect!
  9. My Ford Galaxy (MK2) handbook has a neat picture showing an internal bike carrier that runs down the middle of the car (middle seat needs to be removed). I've looked online, but can't find one for sale - anyone know how much these are and where to get one from (I dare not ask Ford as I can imagine the price....) I already have a nice towball mounted Thule carrier, but like the added security afforded by carrying the bikes inside...
