  1. A woman walka into a pub, goes up to the barman and orders a double entendre So he gives her one.
  2. She's gone  The ebay winner came to collect her this morning, sodding typical that the "door lock in wet weather" trick played up, but he paid up in cash. I'll probably lurk around for a while, the A6 is a 1.9tdi so you lot can still share your wisdom.
  3. A ram air effect will help engine breathing, but the ECU will ultimately control the fueling. Aerodynamics are witchcraft!! I worked on racing cars and my brother now works in the wind tunnel of an F1 team (they give you wings), I also work a lot with kites. Turbulence created by an object in the airstream will exist for between 7 and 11 times the height behind the object. If a 30 ft tree is upwind of a kite, the kite will not find clean air untill at least 210ft beyond the tree. On a car, that will explain why speed attempts and racing teams spend so much time on polishing and smoothing the airflow. Taping over half inch body clips even makes a difference. Losing the floortray is likely to increase turbulence and drag under the car. Shaping a floortray to direct air into the turbulence behind the wheels would have a better effect. That's why F1 cars have complicated wing endplates, and Ferarri have the vents in the side of the "Hubcaps".
  4. I'm selling my LPG Sharan at the moment (look on eBay). I worked out the fuel/cost equivalent to be about 44mpg. My Audi A6 Avant returns 45mpg, so my running costs are about the same. I could follow all the ideas about saving fuel, but life's too short to look at the guage all the time  Mo4 - my tank is in the spare wheel well. The spare is strapped down in place of one of the rear seats - not often I need all 7 seats, hence the Audi.
  5. I fitted a Cobra remote locking system to my Shaz, but I can't remember which wires I used. I think there was a thread about with the right colours. When I followed the advice, everything worked except the small problem of doors locking on their own!! Keep the boot open until you're sure everything is ok. Or keep the bonnet up and be ready to disconnect the battery!!! Snippping one of the wires I had attached fixed the fault. I unbolted the passenger seat and knelt through the door to solder into the C/l wires. While you're in there, unbolt the C/L module and put some spacers on the bolts, it will give it a bit more of a chance when the swimming pool fills up!
  6. We use Hedrin and it seems to work well. The biggest problem is getting the not so little darling to give a damm :-) Setting up the clippers and a chair in the kitchen, then coaxing her into the room seemed the best way, the shower didn't know what had hit it over the next week!!
  7. SWMBO has come into some money, or is about to, so we went looking for a replacement. Then we fell in love with an Audi A6 1.9Tdi Avant  The Shazmobile (guess SWMBO's name!) is on the market. Had a bloke from Bradford call up, but he thought Tewkesbury was just a little bit too far!!! 1995 Sharan 2L ADY engine Zavoli single point LPG system with underslung tank. Tax end Nov, MOT end Jan '08. Does 20mpg on gas, so costs about the same as 44mpg on Petrol.
  8. I fitted a sensor system to the tailgate with the control box/display at the top of the rear window and surface mount sensors at the bottom of the tailgate. I took a tap from the back of the reversing light (sorry, can't remember which colour) and ran the cable through the bellows at the hinge. The sensor wires went under the trim down the side of the window and were taped around the bottom edge of the door. No problems in 4 years. I removed the system on Monday 'cos I'm selling the car and want a sensor on my work van. I've looked at fitting flush mounted sensors on my new car (Audi A6 Avant) but I'm going to pay the money for someones else to have the hassle.
  9. Now you tell me!!! The replacement car comes tomorrow:-(
  10. About ten minutes walk from my house in Tewkesbury. The building in the background is Morrisons. My car was the other side of the flood with the lorry in it. I had to drive down to Cheltenham, up the M5 to Tewkesbury, swap van for car, down M5 to Cheltenham, up A38 to Tewkesbury. I also ended up going into Cheltenham to buy HP & a new laptop for SWMBO! I took 2.5 hours to do a journey that normally takes 12 minutes. I went home, had another go at 8, another go at 10, then another go at 8 this morning. The pictures were taken at about 9:30. I was woken at 4 by a Sea King hovering over my house!!! There are 7 in the area at the moment, plus Police & Ambulance choppers. When we were down there, the fire brigade boats were ferying people out of their houses. Notice the Alhambra by the Bimmer? That is parked up on the banking off the road. It went a bit quiet when a team of divers went through to check each submerged car, we all thought they were empty, but we all waited for the shout. Picture 14 shows the three cars parked on the pavement, when I'm at the lights on that road in the Sharan, the path is above my head! I met a mate who took 17.5 hours to get home overnight, I would normally do that journey in half an hour. He had to swim through by the lorries and will probably not see his car until Monday. He mentioned flooding the engine :-) The local school head left the school at 3pm, got home 40 minutes away at 11am. We're on standby for the school to flood, SWMBO is caretaker. I got a pump from work last night, just in case.
  11. I bet I win the flood photos :-) http://www.paulcollins.f2s.com/paul/JulyFloods/index.html SWMBO took these this morning. My car was parked at work just over a mile away, I could get to it last night but this afternoon I've done a 40 mile round trip to fetch it!!
  12. Showshifter was a tv recorder for digital tv cards - it crashed a lot and then the company went bust.
  13. I'm not looking to buy anything, I already have VagCom. But the V Checker Pro does seem might appealing. The craptop is dying, hence it will be replaced soon, but having all (or most) of the features of VagCom in one little box costing under
  14. A guy on a VWAudi forum is selling a V Checker Pro. Has anybody tried one?
