I bought those from Halfords too but I took them back because they were so useless and expensive. I got the templates from the dealers and we made deflectors out of sticky back plastic which we keep re-using. I am not convinced that they are very good at doing the job they're supposed to however I think it's always worth making some sort of an effort for if you are ever stopped by the police.

I fitted a powrtouch model 3 to my caravan. It's superb. Everyone seems to rate them highly. Ground clearance does still seem poor but I've never noticed any grounding. They're great for hitching up as they start so slowly. Works on any surface. They're great for cheaper campsites like CLs which aren't level. The mover is great for lifting the van onto a levelling ramp. You can park your van places other people avoid - at half term we had our van parked on the edge of Lake Titisee in Germany. We noticed all the vans along the edge had motor movers. Without one you just wouldn't have been able to get it into position. If anyone's interested in fitting one this is what you do: 1)Search the internet for the cheapest caravan mover you can find 2)Phone Powrtouch (Powrwheel) and ask for one at the cheapest price you have found (they price match). I have a suspicion you might even be able to haggle a bit more but I didn't. 3)Fitting is reasonably easy - you need a socket set and a torque wrench 4)The moving units are quite heavy and need supporting on blocks while you attach them to the caravan chassis. You need the torque wrench to secure them 5)The cables are clipped to the floor of the caravan. 6)You have to drill holes for the cable through the caravan floor. I didn't like this bit but it was quite easy. I used bathroom sealant around the cables afterwards. 7)You have two cables from the battery which join the cables from the mover at a control box. 8)Mine all worked first time and I haven't had any problems. I never manoevre with the caravan attached to the car - I just don't think it's worth burning your clutch out especially after spending so much on a mover.

I ended up buying a full stop Centurian which looked like the Bulldog but was a bit cheaper

I've got a 2004 Galaxy and I think there is a more complicated algorithm built into the computer. It always comes on first thing in the morning but after that there seems to be a time limit on warming the engine up. So the booster heater doesn't initially power up but after driving for a while and the engine temp is reading approx 50-60 degrees for a while it powers up till it reaches 90 degrees. I had to fit a new glowplug over the christmas period and the ebay seller motorcare online was super at sending it by special delivery so I could keep the Galaxy on the road.

After a series of fiascos with our caravan I fitted a powrtouch heavy duty single axle model 3 caravan mover to our caravan. I now want to fit a good quality wheel clamp. The Powrtouch website says that only a Milenco rise and clamp, SAS supaclamp or Pyramid Chock will fit. I bought a rise and clamp but it appeared to have no security features at all and couldn't lift the caravan so it went back. I've got 13 inch steel wheels with a plastic trim so an SAS supaclamp would mean removing the trim as it fits to the wheel nuts. Nobody seems to stock the Pyramid chock. Does anybody have a caravan mover with a wheel clamp that fits as there seems to be a lot of confusion on the subject. I would like one from the Bulldog range preferably a gold sold secure one. Thanks.

I am looking to buy a caravan. My Galaxy has a towbar with single (12N) wiring using a 7 channel relay from pct-automotive which wires into the cigar lighter socket at the rear. I was planning to wire a 12s system myself. I was wondering does anyone know if I am able to wire the 12S into the cigar lighter socket or would it draw off too much current and blow the fuse? Do I need a new wire running from the battery? Thanks.

Galaxy Rear Bumper Bracket
Thicko replied to Thicko's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've been trying to get Cover - Support, RH Finis No 1107713 that I need for my bumper but my local dealer tells me it's not available anymore and I need to buy a whole new bumper! Has anyone got any ideas? I was going to try a VW dealer. Has anyone replaced the bumper and have the part I need spare? -
Galaxy Rear Bumper Bracket

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know how all the parts are joined together. Is it pop rivetted? -
Someone's bumped into my Galaxy in a car park. They hit the rear bumper. It's not marked externally but on removing the bumper I've found the bracket holding the bumper has broken. I built my own bracket but it's not really very successful. Some bumpers sold on ebay seem to have the bracket and some don't. Here's one on ebay that definitely has the bracket that can be seen projecting above the bumper. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Galaxy-New-shap...1QQcmdZViewItem Is the bracket available as a part from the dealers or do you have to buy the whole bumper? Just wondered if anybody knew. Thanks.

How To Change A Pollen Filter
Thicko replied to seatkid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've got a Mk2 and I changed the pollen filter following the instructions. I found it a real pain of a job, though and it took me a good while. There's a thin piece of fibreglass shaped to fit around various components that's a job to get in and out and easy to break and then you have to feed the filter across from one side of the car to the other negotiating an obstacle course of wires and tubes. At least my filter was nice and black as though the dealers hadn't changed it during their service and after the trouble I had I could see why they just wouldn't bother. Good luck. -
Ford Direct Warranty
Thicko replied to michael.darling's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I got my Galaxy with Ford Direct warranty. Immediately I got the vehicle home I found the parking sensors weren't working. I phoned the local dealers immediately. They said that'll be -
The front tyres of my Galaxy have about 2-3mm tread left on them so I'll have to do something soonish. I was wondering if it was a good idea to get a garage to swap the tyre from the steel spare onto an alloy wheel and just buy one tyre. I asked at my usual tyre fitters and he said he wouldn't do it in case he damaged the tyre getting it off, but implied that other places would probably do it. I'm only asking because it seems a pity to leave a perfectly good tyre to perish on a steel spare.

I have now bought 36mm socket from Halfords which turns the cap very nicely. The next problem is where to get a new oil filter from. I asked at Halfords and they said that they don't make a 130PS Galaxy only a 90 or 115. They don't have an oil filter for a 130PS Galaxy anyway. I assume that I have to drain the engine before I can take the filter out. Is there anywhere apart from a dealer to get a new oil filter from? I live in the Warrington to Liverpool area. Thanks. PS I changed the oil last time without changing the filter but I'm not doing that again!

I read all that stuff before I bought the lead but it's hard to translate it into actual examples. What actual faults will I not be able to correct without registering? The comment about a fault with the PC or lead sounds like real scare mongering. It reminds me of people who say don't buy a second hand child car seat because it may have been involved in a horrific crash and have an internal hair line fracture with no apparent external damage whatsoever.

I bought a vag-com lead off ebay for less than
