New as in new to you but 2nd hand and 2008-2010MY see p103 of handbook and thereabouts: Red i = warning information... but normally this will be illuminated when driving as well... 1. Press the right arrow button on the steering wheel to enter the main menu. 2. Highlight Information with the up and down arrow buttons and press the right arrow button. 3. Highlight Messages and press the right arrow button. 4. Use the up and down buttons to view the current messages.

As the vehicle should have been serviced twice before this one (10k & 20k) you'll be looking at a yr 3 service (?) which includes air and fuel filters - yr 2 doesn't.

1. Call Ford Customer Services to check the official policy on these updates..... {Often they are supposed to be applied at each Service?. Certainly Land Rover do this as a routine.) 2. Offer to pay the dealer for the time taken to install them? It surely can't take more than 1/2 to 1 hour tops.... ask to be present to see the work done ;-) Keep hassling the supplying dealer as they are the only one you have a contract with under the sale of goods and services act.

Hi Dave Thanks for sharing your experience of the new DSG double clutch auto box, I assume? (Ford use the Powershift name for all autos). Sort of how I'd expect if accelerating hard(ish). My 2009 auto (torque converter) shifts similarly under load/hard acceleration. Annoyingly it will run along steady speed at 2050-2100 rpm when I'd prefer it to change up a gear.... 2. Logical as changing down would help deceleration - as that's normally why you cancel CC ?? It's an odd thing to cancel and re-engage so quickly. Seldom use CC (no motorways here) so can't compare to mine. 3. This has been complained about a lot re the DSG box. I'd say mine is almost similar, though, a combination of no turbo boost and the fly-by-wire throttle I think. 4. Not a problem on my auto. Assume it's a DSG gearbox thing?

The Galaxy aerial is almost certainly a 12V amplified type (using rear heater elements?) - someone who knows may be along, eventually. Are you supplying power from the aftermarket unit to that aerial amplifier? Without power it will provide virtually no RF signal to the radio.

Of course it is possible to retrofit a tow bar. You may need a light board if the number plates are obscured, and if so a lighting socket will be needed and then 'Ford approved plug-in wiring' would be wise to avoid warranty issues with the canbus system (i.e. avoid by-pass relay options). My NTTA fitters could 'code' the Galaxy to cut fogs, reverse sensors etc.,. but often towbar fitters send you to the dealer (who charges). They also had a wide range of bars and accessories on display, plus a great deal of knowledge they were willing to share.

The USB is an extra - even on the DAB model radios. (My 2009 Ghia has DAB but no USB). All models get the BT hands-free. SOME (rare) devices can stream (play) audio via bluetooth to the radio as well. It might be possible to retrofit the USB module but iirc when I googled it, it was an arm and a leg. The MP3 CD player is one option, as is using the headphone out of a MP3 player/iPod to connect to the aux in jack socket in the glovebox.

The whole back bumper is removed and the bumper impact beam removed (the towbar replaces it)! You won't see any bumper cut unless you lie on the ground under the car - as it's raining and I've a cold I ain't gonna go and take a pic of my Bosal removable installation.

Yes you do gain access via the removable side panel(s). It is shown in the handbook, I believe, along with all the bulb type/ratings.

As you've replied to a 15-month old thread, I doubt any fresh info will come from it. Anyone can tow - within specific limits; there are towing mass restrictions on more recent drivers (until they pass a further test). Unless you are hiring from an unusual (low cost) source most UK companies will be supplying a post 2006 model which is known here as the Mk3. The rear seats (3rd row) have sufficient space for adults to sit in comfort. There is a little boot space left, but due to the nature of the rear door shape and sloping seat backs it is quite restricted. (The volumes are given in the brchure linked to above). As the seats can be slid fore/aft a little there are two figures. With one 3rd row seat folded down you will get a fairly usable space - but may need to tie stuff down to prevent it tipping onto the 'tail end charlie' occupying the adjacent seat. To give you an idea of the size we carry this shopping scooter http://www.pride-mobility.co.uk/product.aspx?id=48&range=5 in that space (just) with the front basket removed (as it hits the seat back). I make that space to be roughly 102long x 56wide x 95high (although the sloping seat back and rear door reduces the length a fair bit). The roof height is plenty high - just secure the luggage well if you stack it right up! I'd think a UK hire company might provide you with further measurements if you ask nicely. They may also be able to offer roof rails and top box hire if requested.

Most good towbars come with mainly pictoral instructions on how to fit the bar... similarly the elctrics ... even showing which bits of trim need removal to gain access. They can sometimes be downloaded from the makers sites so Google away! You may wish to keep the support bar in case you wish to remove the towbar at a later date?

2008 - as it's still in warranty take it in to the dealer to sort it out. The engine management light can come on for all sorts of reasons - most frequently a sensor issue and a false alarm, but it could indicate a problem needing attention. The dealers can interrogate the fault recorder and will then know where the problem lies. PS yours is a MkIII Galaxy (2006 on).

The first press of the key locks the doors. The second press deadlocks them and flashes the indicators. It's all in the manual (well maybe not the bit about the indicators?) but that's how my 'new to me' 2009 works. If only Ford published the manuals online I'd have a downloaded copy to refer to.
