I have the same problem and have noticed it while pulling out of junctions

Its a recirculating waste so no, there is no wastgate as such but it still discharges the pressure so it is possible to hear slightly. As for the whistling noise its possibly a boost leak somewhere in the pipework - check the intercooler hasn't been damaged by a stone and that all the pipework is secure. many thanks I will get them checked out, regarding the other noise it is very noticeable as i said when my foot is lifted. Thinking back it only started happening when I drove from Ireland to Spain last year. what about MAF sensors and egr valves would they be a cause?

Hi I know this is about Ford but the site is very good. I have an 115bhp Auto Sharan AUY engine code. 62K 2005. Recently there has been a siren/whistling noise out of Turbo. I had the turbo checked at a VW garage and they said there was nothing wrong but they said there was a minimum play of 1-2mm in the turbo spindle. Now another noise has started and when the car is warm and i take my foot of the accelarator it makes a brrrrrrup noise (sorry hard to describe) sounds like a wastegate but i dont think it has one. Any thoughts would be most welcome!
