  1. I've been told by an auto-electrician that the airbag control module on my '03 zetec 1.9tdi is faulty, which is why the airbag light is continuously illuminated. Can anybody tell me where this module is located and how I get to it ~ I think it may be in the centre console somewhere, but I can't see where to start. Can these be repaired, or is it a trip to the breakers yard? Are they all the same, or must it come off another car of the same year, with same zetec spec and diesel? Lots of questions here, but hopefully, you guys can point me in the right direction.
  2. Hi Guys, As you can probably guess from the title of this thread, the 3 dials in front of the gearstick, which control the heating/cooling, air conditioning and airvent direction, don't illuminate when the headlights are on. It is a real pain when driving at night, and trying to work out how to de-mist the front window or how to get some warmth directed at your feet. Not sure if it's relevant or not, but I've also noticed that the lamp for the cigarette lighter doesn't work either, despite there being power for my phone charger, and the bulb, which I presume should light up the ashtray, doesn't light up either. Ordinarilly, I would have assumed that a bulb had blown, but surely not this many in a relatively small location. All other light appear to work fine, i.e. the dash etc. I can only presume that these "failed" bulbs share a common fuse or connection, but I can't make head nor tail of the wiring diagram in my haynes book. Any advice gratefuly received. Thanks
  3. Thanks for the reply ~ it seems I'm on the right path and just need to wait for it to stop raining now before I tackle this job, along with some others that I have to do on the car ~ hopefully before it starts to snow!!! Thanks again.
  4. As I understand it, the ambient (outside) temperature switch for the auxiliary booster heater on the MK1 operates at 5 degrees or below, whereas the later model kicks in at 10 degrees. Being a bit of a wimp, when it comes to cold weather, I wonder if it is possible to "upgrade" my MK1 by fitting the later sensor? I am aware it is behind the n/s wiper arm, and have even managed to find it, but am not sure if it just pulls off, or if it twists off somehow? I've also seen on this forum somewhere that it's possible to replace the sensor with a 5amp fuse. It seemed to imply that this kicks the booster heater on all the time, regardless of ambient temperature ~ presumably until such time as the coolant water reaches a pre-determined temperature, when the booster shuts down. All advice gratefully received.
