  1. Well, here it is!!!!! Once I opened the wiring loom on the door with the affected window this is what I found, 6 completely broken wires and another 4 with the insulation frayed. This is caused by the continual movement of the wires when you open and close the doors, mine is an 04 plate. A bit of soldering and crimping will fix the problem (search the forum, there is a guide)and all of the electrical gremlins are gone now that I have isolated all of the broken connections. This is 99% what is causing your window problem and you can expect to see more electrical gremlins as the broken wires continue to short, start with the wiring loom that runs from the door pillar into the door with the affected window. Apart from being a pain in the rear, electrical shorts can lead to fire and that is not good. Get this looked at if you cannot do it yourself.
  2. This has happened to me recently and is exactly why I am on this site. The rear offside window has stopped working, when I open the rear door and close it again the hazards flash twice shortly followed by all of the windows lowering themselves (except the faulty one). I thought it may be the window motor but when I wiggle the wiring loom that feeds from the door pillar to the rear door all problems go away. I also have no dashboard lights as a result of the same problem, wiggling the loom again fixes the problem. Electrical circuits in a modern car are extrememly sensitive and the slightest short can cause the strangest of gremlins in the system. Having looked on the forum I have concluded that the wiring loom is at fault and will attempt to look/fix this weekend, I'll let you know if this resolves the issue. Have a browse on the forum as there is a full guide on how to access and repair the wiring loom, it is a commom problem it would appear.
