Brakes Problem, Loss Of Vacuum?
victor meldrew replied to B@rnstormer's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have had the same thing when the master cylinder seal allowed the brake fluid to drain into the servo. I got a master cylinder from a scrapper and it's been fine since. If you go down the second hand route make sure to get the right one as there seemed to be quite a few types -
I have a 52 sharan tdi and noticed the heated seats don't work, there is a 5 amp fuse that is blown so I replaced it with another, this blew as I switched on the seat heater. Is a 5 amp fuse correct for heated seats? Where should I look first? I would like either the heated seats or the aux heater to work this winter.

I've bought another shalaxy after a week or two in an ordinary estate car. Plugged in vcds lite and got a couple of codes, I cleared them and ran the scan again after a quick trip. These are the codes that remain. Aux heater 01491 glow plug open circuit. This I'm assuming is a new plug required or wiring issues. A/c pressure switch f129 any ideas?

I've transferred the towbar from my old mk 1 to a mk2 and bought a wiring kit from vw for £53 It's for a 13 pin socket The main cable has only four wires in it and the instructions are not really clear Has anyone used one of these that could explain how to fit it? I can't even find the plug it connects to. I need to do it by Friday afternoon or suffer the wrath of the wife when I tell her were staying home this weekend

Buckled Wheel Sensation
victor meldrew replied to throbbinggristle's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Had exactly the same thing on mine and had the wheels balanced today and its cured I would have bet a months pay that it wasn't wheel balancing as the wobble was only apparent under load and between 15-25 mph Cheaper fix than I imagined -
Cam Belt Cost
victor meldrew replied to victor meldrew's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry should say 02 sharan -
I have an 20 sharan diesel that has done 55 k with the current cambelt. I had it serviced today and on collection they advise a new belt soon. Any idea how much this would cost in a garage ? Is it a straight forward job to DIY? I did the belt on my mk 1 tdi along with the water pump and found that was a pain so would rather get them to do it but it will depend on the cost

Adding 2 Stroke Oil To Diesel
victor meldrew replied to JohnPic's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I used 2 stroke as an additive in my old di transit and found it ran quieter and smoother I used it cos it was free at the time Not used it in any shalaxys though( I'd have to buy it now) -
Towbar From Mk 1To Mk2?
victor meldrew replied to victor meldrew's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the replies.ill fit it tomorrow after work -
I've got a towbar that's been fitted to my last four shalaxys which have all been mk1 I've just bought a mk 2 and wonder if it will fit Any ideas?

If I get time ill try to remove the pipes you want but not promising mate cos I've bought a mk2 that needs a bit of playing with Shame to scrap this one, I've only had it a week and its in good nick and runs lovely but I don't want to pay 500 for a clutch and flywheel when I can get back the money I paid for it by weighing it in The galaxy I scrapped last week went away with loads of bits stripped off it The turbo on the sharan is less than a year old so I might pull it off as a spare

Dmf And Clutch How Difficult
victor meldrew replied to victor meldrew's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Another shalaxy bites the dust I think ill drive it till it stops then scrap it, I only paid a couple of hundred quid for it -
I have a tdi sharan with a flywheel that's had it, the local garage want 500 quid to supply and fit a solid flywheel and new clutch. I can't afford this so am considering having a go myself The last clutch I did was on my daughters pug 106 Anyone done a clutch on a shalaxy? How difficult do you think it will be on my drive with no help? Many thanks in advance

I had a bad day yesterday and the wiring loom caught fire while I was sat in traffic and as its well past its sell by date I'm looking at another I've found a mk 2 diesel but it has a couple of issues It's a pain to select 1st and reverse when cold Knock from front when turning left Any ideas what could cause this? I've had four shalaxy mk 1s and know my way around them but never had a mk 2

Sharan Vacuum Pipes
victor meldrew replied to victor meldrew's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Perfect! Thank you so much, shame its not available separately -
Whilst changing a coil pack on my sons sharan2.0 petrol I managed to snap off a couple of vac hoses from a small plastic manifold that's set in to the large vac hose. I need to replace it and wondered if the plastic connector is available and if so what should I ask for in the dealers Any ideas, I'm really beginning to get fed up with that bloody car.

My sons mk 1 petrol sharan occasionally refuses to start and is prone to cutting out. I checked relay 30 and resoldered an obvious dry joint and it started fine. Today the problem has returned, it occasionally cuts out and won't start then after a few tries it starts. It seems to run rough until its warmed up. I need to fix it over the weekend cos he's making silly noises about buying a zafira Where should I start?
