  1. hi all i have a mk2 galaxy that ive had for a year just had the mot done, just needed a couple of rear springs, while i was under there i thought id investigate the spare wheel carrier......... the car has no spare but ive decided to get one as we have a couple of long trips coming up, ive not got a problem with storing it in the boot but its usually full of pushchairs and other kid related items, so i removed the carrier simple job........ i would like to fix it, but the problem is the wire protrudes out of the carrier but the part u place under the wheel is missing, the wire has been snapped or cut off, without this missing part it cant be repaired id guess. are the mk1 and mk2 carriers interchangeable? or has anyone got the missing part so i can go about using the guide i found on this site to reattach and get some new cable, or is a new one the only option? thanks in advance scott
  2. no gunk on dipstick, ill keep on eye on it and the oil level im in bishops waltham, lifelong armchair saints fan though :35: cheers for reply scott
  3. just checked it after 5 mile run and theres brown stuff forming under cap, im hoping it is just condensation (it was a quick run and never warmed up) as opposed to a head gasket problem. ill check it after work tomorrow (40 mile round trip) interesting u should say about egr valve leaking, i always though that was what was causing the oil leak (out of the tiny hole) but they are quite expensive to replace and look quite a bitch to fit, and besides im not 100% suree that is a problem, car gets good mileage runs pretty well (140k miles) only slight stutter at part throttle. where in southampton are u from?? i live just outside just moved here thanks scott
  4. hi, this is what ive now done this morning, i removed the plastic engine cover and the sound proofing long ago (sodden with oil). i thought it may be the oil cap seal though, did u replace yours? i gotta run one of my boys to a birthday party (joy) so ill see how it fairs cheers scott
