  1. evening all I have a 1999 Vreg 2.3 auto galaxy, we had a problem with the selector button on the auto gear stick last year but solved it by ajusting the screw to get the lever to unlock when you depress the brake pedel. Today even with the screw adjusted to fully out the lever will not unlock when the pedel is pushed. Trying to order the part to replace on the lever i was told it was only a bulb holder, i have pulled the 4-pin plug out but can not get the switch off the side of the lever. Does anyone know if replacing this switch will solve the problem of will there be something more that needs to be done. as far as i was aware this switch was call the starter inhibitor switch. But when the car is not running i have free movement to select any gear but as soon as the engine is running it is locked in drive or neutral. any ideas ? Thank you for your time.
