I unplugged in the tailgate, pulled them all out of the rubber boot and the tailgate and then soldered new wires on from just inside the roof exit point to some new, and some reused plugs, threw the boot away as it was broken anyway and then taped the loom and reconnected, allso lubed wires before taping to stop them getting brittle. 1 year on I haven't had any further problems but did cut up another boot to cut down any water ingress into the tailgate. :23:

Great, thanks I will give it a look, dimmer is working and dims dash and button lights, just have no instrument lights to dim but now you mention it, there must be a seperate feed from the dimmer to the instrument panel. It seems that there is always something left to fix but at least its not too expensive and it ( touch wood) always gets me from A to B. Neil

Hi all, The instrument panel on my 97 tdi have packed in, they have sporadically come on for a few seconds twice in the past three weeks but in general dont work. All of the dashboard lights ans switches work, but all instruments lights are out. I have checked bulbs and they are fine and cant see any issues on the PCB. The fuses are all good. Any Ideas?? Its getting too dark now and with all of the cameras about I dont like guessing the speed. Neil

Hi, has anybody fitted a larger intercooler to a MK1 TDI Galaxy. I am in the middle of a project TDI at the mo and was considering an upgrade using either new or a S/H intercooler. I fitted a saab 9000 one to a supra once with good results. Any thoughts or ideas? Neil

Hi, does anybody know which plug ran the remote system on a mk1 as Im rewiring it to run my alpine but the new harness doesnt match and the butchers have been at the loom. It ran an amp awell so Im going to have to rewire the speakers. This is on my project gal, my other mk 1 had already been rewired to iso when I got it and I cant find any spare plugs in that one either. All help will be greatly appreciated. Neil
