  4. Car was SORN'd recently. My better half has started Uni and I now cycle to work. Car needed MOT and Tax so I SORN'd it. Its a bit tatty, done approx 110,000 miles. It runs ok. It wouldnt pass MOT without work which I cant afford. Boot panel has been removed to be able to access the boot as the electrics to the boot release dont work. Has parking distance cameras all round but again only a few of them are working (tested with VAG). Glove box missing. Has a knock on the front left. Drop links replaced but knock still there. Has all 7 seats which are in reasonable condition. Front 2 are captain seats. Pics below are as its sits on the drive now. Open to offers. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s127/ste_tates/aaa77d57.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s127/ste_tates/a7ee9811.jpg
  5. Hi All, My 2001 2.3 MK2 Gal has been drinking the fuel. A full tank under normal driving would return approx 350miles so yesterday I set about changing the spark plugs (wanted to try this first). This may or may not be contributing to my probs but wanted to let you know the recent events. I hadnt changed the plugs myself before so before i nipped to Motorworld for my new ones I thought id find where they go. Removed the 10 bolts holding plug cover on and there they were. I left the cover off while I went to the shop. I told MWorld my make model etc and they handed me a set of 4 plugs. sorted..? As I got back in the Gal to go home (this is before any fitting had been done except for removing the plug cover) the engine warning light came on... coincidence? I got home, fitted the new plugs and the new air filter I bought at the same time. Went for a quick run round the block, no engine warning light..sorted?? A few hours later I was dropping my wife off, the engine warning light came back on and the Gal started quite volently juddering under gentle acceleration. If I gently touch the acc pedal nothing seems to happen revs wise. If im cruising along, and gently touch the acc pedal the juddering starts. If I get a bit more lead footed and the revs increase the juddering eases off. Something I noticed: The new plugs have a gap of 0.8mm. The manual states 1.0mm gap. The new ones do list the 2.3 Gal on the packaging. Im not entirely sure if this would have an effect or not and the fact the engine warning light came on before fitting the new plugs indicates that the problem may lie elsewhere. Could it be the MAF? Please help. Steve.
  6. I have the same problem at the mo on my Yreg Gal. You should be able to use the key in the lock to release the boot. If that doesnt work (it didnt for me as the key hole had been err attacked) you have to try and get your hand behind the door card and move the latch by hand. The latch on my Gal is right at the bottom. The door card on the Gal has 1 x screw on each side behind the plastic cover where you access the bulbs and 2 at the bottom (which you cant access unless the door is open). The rest was clips. Hope this helps.

  8. Tried that earlier. Blooming bolt sheared off. :16:.
  9. The image I posted by the way was from the Ford Technical Information System (TIS) Under Workshop Manual > Galaxy 2000.75 > Engine 2.3L > disassembly > Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  10. Thanks for the input. I dont think it could be bent enough to prevent it rattling. there is definately a threaded hole to house a bolt. I'll try and take an actual picture.
  11. Hi Guys n gals. Ive been on the phone to Ford but they have no clue. I have an annoying rattle from the front end. Sounds more Near side tbh. Changed Drop links assuming it was that but upon changing the off side this morning i noticed the manifold heat shield is missing its bottom bolt. By the way this moves and sounds by hand I reckon it might be the culprit as the drop links havent got rid of it. Im trying to find out how the shield mounts to the exhaust at the bottom. is there any rubber involved? what size bolt do i need etc etc?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve. See Pic (marked 10Nm)
  12. Great post. Just so happens my colleague had a VAG.COM lead. installed on laptop, followed instructions.... great news is that the interface worked. bad news is only 4 of the 8 sensors are working. Out of curiosity I put my ear next to them and there was an obvious ticking from the working ones and a dead silence from the faulties. Suppose I better get my fault finding head on now and test the wiring by swapping and changing the faulty sensors to the position of the good one and visa versa.. Thanks all for the info. Very helpful.
