  1. What bug does the software update fix? Is it related to the starting system? Thanks.
  2. Hello all, I bought my 2.0d (56 - 2006) Galaxy 2 years ago and occassionaly found the car hard to start. I changed the battery and everything seemed fine for 9months or so and then the same - engne turning over but not firing up, and eventually the battery becoming drained. This time, I changed the battery for a Bosch Silver (80amp I think) and all has been okay for about a year. However, I have never found the Galaxy starts immediately - always took five to seven clicks before it starts. I ask a couple of lads who run a small garage near to where I work and they said its probably the starter motor being slow. Taking their advice on board I've bought a new starter motor and waiting on delivery. With not a lot of dough to spare I've took a gamble on their advice being correct but wonder what the forum thinks? For info, it bumps starts fine and when turned off the battery reads 12.6V (100% battery?), when running reads 14.5 or so (so alternator seems okay?). Also, if it is the starter, what's the chance of a flywheel / clutch problem causing a starter failure, i.e. the problem is further upstream? there's 107000 mile on the car and have just checked battery now after it being sat idle now for 6hrs and it reads 12.5V. Thanks alot, Mark.
  3. When edging up something in front, the front sensors wont kick in even when I press the switch. I have to engage reverse first, which lights the switch, and then re-engage first and move forward. Its a bit of a pain but I guess I have to live with it.
  4. In my last question a member told me I have a square fit stereo which is really helpful - I didn't know. I'm hoping to get some more help if possible as I'm struggling to find answers. I'm not a very confident stereo fitter but I'll give it a go as I do like good sound. I want to replace my square basic 6000 with an aftermarker head unit with DAB (and bluetooth and usb if in budget). Budget dictates I have to live with speakers so I don't need a cutting edge stereo though an improvement of the 6000 a must. Compatability with steering stalk would be useful. Okay, my questions, what size is the opening. Google image search on double din seems too much. Is it 1 1/2 din? Also, what do I need on my aftermarket stereo so all speakers get hooked up? Would the connection adaptor will take care of that or do I need a minimim number of channels on the head unit? My budget is ideally
  5. As long as the model you get from the focus is the same shape as the Galaxys then yes. There are 2 types for the Galaxy a square one in 2006 and some 2007 models since then changed to the round type. Headunit is it this one it will fit a new er version of the galaxy ie 2008 onwards and some 2007 if fitted with the same shaped head unit, if it is the square unit ie Old headunit. this will fit 2006 onwards with square unit. Thanks. Much appreciated. I have the earlier square fit. I'm hoping a change of head unit will improve the sound through the current speakers. I also want to get DAB on the move (USB in and bluetooth would be good also) I think I might go for an aftermarket single din. I'm going to have a look through the ICE section and see what other people have fitted as there must be 10 or so speakers - 6 + 4 tweeters. I remember a few of the guys went for a Kenwood head unit. But, if anybody has any suggestions?? Cheers. Budget is max
  6. Where all the Sony DAB a generic fit, i.e. would one from a 07 Focus fit a MK3 Galaxy? Thanks
  7. When I back up the sensors work perfect but don't turn off when I put gear into neutral. Is this normal? In my last car they shut off in neutral so I could remain parked next to the wall or whatever, with the engine running, without being whinned at! Cheers
  8. I knows this is a older question but I'm also on the hunt for a net of some sorts to retain camping gear in the back should the worse happens and the car is in a nasty accident. I don't want the kids clouted on the head! Does anybody have any ingenious solutions? I'm thinking of maybe a fishing net (trawler type) thrown over the lot and tied to anchor points ( I live in a fishing community)
