Newbie Owner: What's This Ignition Noise?

Hi guys, newbie Galaxy owner here (2001 mkII). When I turn the ignition key to the first position, there is a strange noise for a second that almost sounds like liquid being squirted at pressure up a pipe. It seems to travel from the front of the car to the back. Is this normal? What is it? (The car starts just fine BTW) Cheers, Lister
