  1. Not a big fan of painted calipers, but if I was, I'd have done them blue.
  2. Not all tyres of nominally the same size have the same rolling circumferance, a new tyre and worn tyre will give similar differences (do you notice a speedo difference from worn to new tyres)? As long as they fit the rim safely, try what you want.
  3. Have you got a photo please?
  4. Do a Google for brake dust shields, I've seen them fitted to some cars and they do work. Although they do the job they are designed for, I would have more concern for the brakes overheating, if they stop dust moving through the wheel, they must stop the cooling air too.
  5. Try tapping the purge valve mounted on the bulkhead, ours had stuck.
  6. I found this quote from someone who wrote to Shell. "I put this question to Shell who stated quite unequivocally that at one time Red diesel was in fact identical to road diesel with a red marker added for tax identification purposes. Changes in Goverment requirements for more stringent standards for road diesel have meant that sulphur levels have been lowered, along with other modifications to road diesel. However and most importantly, Red diesel/heating oil/gas oil has remained exactly the same. Andrew Morris has kindly confirmed that this has certainly been the same for at least 10 years!" Basically, red diesel is the same as normal diesel of ten years ago. If a car could use it then, it can use it now, however, a newer engine would be spec'd to run with less sulphur. Stricter emmisions testing would also cause problems.
  7. What's that got to do with his question? There's no need to be so pretentious, it's irrelevant to the current owner if the previous one paid duty or not.
  8. It's true what they say about sparkys and gas fitters charges then. :) Welcome aboard.
  9. Which bit should you grease? The shaft, The toothed gear or the little bearing at the end of the shaft? What sort of grease? Thanks.
  10. You should be fine, I recently had to change the belt and tensioner after the tensioner's pulley wheel disintigrated, once I had worked out what had gone wrong it wasn't difficult. Ford wanted
  11. The trouble with using the search button is that it invariably drags up topics filled with posts about using the search button rather than just answewring the question.
  12. I'd agree with the above too, better to have a new tyre (that has been approved for sale in the UK), than a half worn tyre from a premium manufacturer. I wonder if those that say different have to have brand label clothes too because, as EVERYONE knows, big brands are ALWAYS best. Hmmmmmm.
  13. I may be reading this wrong but surely if Smoggy can hear it clicking, then it can't be the wires in the pillar, it has to be the linkage around the door handle?
  14. No need to chuck your toys out of the pram Dave, like I pointed out, I only get annoyed when the tech subjects get silly, I've no problem with any other sections, I was merely pointing out that your title was ambiguous and thus the reason people looked but didn't post could be different to your reason.
