Thanks Guys (Sorry for the delay in replying) I knew someone out there would know -
Hi Can any of you advise me? Galaxy 1999 Tdi Central locking already factory fitted & working I want to fit an after-market kit to make it remote central locking I'd rather buy a decent make/system than go for the cheapest I can find but am unsure what there is out there that is the right type of system/compatable with my car Can any of you tech guys recommend a system? Thanks

Galaxy 1999 TDi Not long since returned from La Rochelle (mid France) towing a relatively small caravan but well loaded with: 2 adults, 2 kids (8 & 10), 4 Bikes, Full awning, BBQ and tonnes of unnecessary clothing (that's what you get with 2 daughters) and loads of wine on the return jouney I didn't hang about, air con on all the time 27.5 mpg going 28 mpg comming back (these figures include trafficjams but mainly motorway diving at 60mph

Firstly thanks for your responses I didn't change the disks, it was the pads (excuse me - I'm a plonker) The car isn't new its 1996 I forced the pistons back to accomodate the new pads (they went in no problem) I only bled the system as I had inadvertantly loosened the pipeline bolt (attached to the calliper) in my haste to get the job done (like I said - plonker) There was only the slightest trickle of fluid but I thought it best to bleed the system as some air may have got in Following my post last night - I can hear the sound of air escaping from near the resevoir (as if the lid isn't air tight) - should this hold pressure? Also, a friend has suggested that the symptoms of spongy brakes (following new pads) isn't unusuall and it could take some miles to bed in. However, I can hit the floor before the brakes really bite on and if I pump the pedal, the symtoms get worse I really appreciate the advice - Thanks PS - The wife has got the Galaxy and I was made to use the bus service (lost out there too!)

I know this isn't stricky Galaxy related but I'm hoping one of you technical boffins can help me out of this pickle I've just changed the front brake disks on my wife's Rav4 (a job I have done several times before on various cars over the years) Bled the system (with engine off) and the resevoir is at correct level The brake pedal is nice & firm (as it should be) until the engine starts running Then, brakes become incredibly spongy and I'm sure wouldn't stop me properly at speed There is no sign of air anywhere or leaks Can you help me? am I missing something blatently obvious? Car is off the road now and 'her who must be obeyed' is really chuffed that she will have to walk the kids the 2 miles to school tomorrow

Thanks Guys I'll sort this this weekend

I'm hoping this is easy for someone There are two cigarette power outlets in the boot area I have fused one of these by sticking a screwdriver in it - (It's a long story and yes I am a pillock!) I definately heard a quiet 'pop' towards the front of the car However, having checked all the fuses next to the steering wheel, I can't find where this 'pop' (i assume the fuse) is The adjacent lighter socket still works Can you help me

Towing A Caravan With A 1.9 (90bhp) Sharan
Bubbles replied to Phil Neal's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just to add to the list I tow a knackered 1989 - 5 berth swift which is usually laden with 4 bikes (and as I have 2 daughters and a wife - bucket loads of clothes for any occasion) I'm using a 2000 110bhp galaxy which I bought especially for towing. It's brilliant - just returned home (Manchester-way) from Somerset It's the first real journey towing (400 miles round trip) and I was totally relaxed. Had to keep checking the speedo to drop back down below 60ish. Now thinking of fitting cruise control for next years journey to the French rivierra -

Appologies for not replying sooner - In my car, the lock itself was broken. There is a small 'paddle- like' bit of metal that sticks out of the back of the barrel into the door locking mechanism - that had broken off. Removal of the lock, door handle and wiring is simple (anyone who wants more detail - let me know). I had to buy a new door handle which includes a new lock & set of keys. The dealer told me that I would have to have a new separate key for the drivers door. If I wanted a single key for the car, this would require a whole lock change for the car costing

Thanks for the advice (all of you) I'm taking a deep breath and going for it at the weekend (I'll try and repair the door as well!) I'll update the site when job done!

Paule I've just had exactly the same thing happen to my drivers door. However, my electric windows are also affected (I can wind them down from the switches but have to get them back up again by locking the passenger door - a major pain in the rain yesterday). Like you, I'm relatively handy but fear that the available space to work is too tight for my chubby little grubbers. Please update this query when/if you have any success. I'll do the same if I make any cheap progress (if it's going to be

The model is a 2006R so I'm sure you will appreciate that this is the base model radio cassette and original to the car The serial number is FDZ7R2XM007027 Please help, my wife is travelling to Wales this weekend with kids and has pointed out that sometimes I should 'leave things alone'
