  1. we did check the pipes by spraying them but there was no change. all these problems started when the car got very wet, not sure if this is just a coincence or not Also i believe the misfire to be the coil as i have already change both the spark plugs and leads.
  2. thanks for the replys He cleaned both the throttle body and idle air valve but it made no difference. he did say there was no resistance in the valve but he was unsure if it was ment to be like that on this model. when i started it up this morning the revs went up to 3000rpm again. i popped the bonet and unplugged the cable on the idle control valve and the revs dropped down and it struggled to run at adle but it allowed me to take it to a friend of my dad who has the diagnostic stuff, he is going to look at it in the week and let my know for sure what it is. will post up what it was when i get it back
  3. sorry title shout say2-3000 rpm Hi every one first post on here I have a 2001 2.3 and i have had a few engine troubles recently. The firts problem was a misfire on No3 three cylinder which came and went a few times. The problem i am having now is that it the car is idling at 2-3000 rpm. the first day this happened, once it got up to full temprature the idle dropped down to 750rpm and cut out once or twice. also the first time it happened when i pressed the clutch the revs dropped but it has stoped doing that now. I got the AA out tonight and he plugged his computer in to it but it could not find my car. he thought it might be a stuck throttle boddy so he cleaned that but that didnt help. after about an hours messing he thought it might be the idle air control valve as when he removed it there was no resistance in the valve. he thought this may be the problem but he wasnt 100% Has any one had a problem like this before? any help would be great as its driving me mad now Paul
