Hi all, saw in the local papers that manufacturers claims to mpg are unachievable In my galaxy 2.0tdi with 4 people and luggage i can never get more than 45 mpg and extra urban is never greater than 43 mpg I thought i would get more mpg on a long run,

Swagger I don't know what you are really after ? with regards to the battery ! as when you are driving the power comes from the Alternator, so as long as the Alternator is rated high enough, it will run everything. I also think you are mistaken with your ideas of power, if as you say 110 Watts that is only 9 amps which is nothing ! a Alternator is rated about 100 Amps ! Radiotwo Yeah lol, got my watts and amps mixed up, just wanted to know how many amps can i use, i got a 12v fridge, kids will have there dvds plugged in too, so power will drain from somewhere

Hi all...of to france in my gal soon, so will be running aircon and a 12v fridge from the car battery, how good is the battery in the gal, will she be able to handle it, what is the max watts output that the battery can handle, my landcruiser use to handle 110 watts....hope someone can ansa...cheers

Just been on a journey, and found that using 5th gear i got better mpg rather than using 6th gear, it was mostly motorway miles, i was doing same speed both ways, how can this be, surely 6th gear is for cruising etc

Hi all I got 225x50x17 tyres on my gal, and to be honest i hate low profile tyres as the ride is not smooth, if i was to put bigger tyres on my gal ie 225x60x17 how would i go about finding the tyre pressure for the bigger tyres, would they be the same as the ones fitted all ready...any ideas appreciated Also got the continental tyres on my gal, great tyres but wear down quick, any reccomendations for tyres that will last longer,...cheers

I can remember going to europe in my mk5 cortina and i painted my headlamps with some sort of amber paint which was to stop the glare, i bought it from a car shop....is this still legal, infact can you still buy it

If you open your drivers door and look at the plate, it will give you all relevant pressures

Hi there, i got an old dog lead and threaded it through the tie down hook in the boot and then put the dog in its harness and then connect the lead to the harness, she has plenty of room to move around and cant get over the top of 2nd row seats......simples......mk 3 . 2.0 tdi

was towing my caravan this weekend and pumped up the tyres to the recommended pressure of 45psi on the rear, now after a few miles the tyres get warm and heat up and so the pressure rises, the onboard computer said 49 psi, this is nearly 10% too high, do i put less in when the tyres are cold to compensate or is this 49psi ok

I noticed one evening on a galaxy ghia in a car park when the car was unlocked the lights on the indicators lit up as well as the fogs so that you can see what you are doing, i have the zetec 2009 model and mine doesnt do this, can i just add the bulb into the indicator housing unit

i cant believe what i just read, why pay all that money for a pump when the same money would of got you an oil change at a service station, get your tesco points and use them at the garages they recommend...works out free

Hi all, what constitutes as a full load and having to pump tyres up to accomodate a full load, i generally have 4 adults and a dog in my 59, 2.0 tdi galaxy, there is quite a difference in tyre pressures for the rear tyres for full load, can any one help, i have 225x50x17 tyres. rear tyres are 32psi normal load/45 full load

This only applies if you have a B licence only. If you have a B+E ( you passed your test before 1997 ) then there is no ratio which applies between the towing vehicle and the trailer. The maximum towing weight is stipulated by the manufacturer. Although a maximum train weight of 8.5 tons may still apply. For example many 4x4 vehicles are plated by the manufacturer to tow trailers well in excess of the vehicle maximum weight. Thank you, i new i was right all along

Hi Swagger I don't want to be a killjoy, but towing a twin axle van with a Galaxy seems a bit OTT. What is your Gross weight of your Caravan, as I thought the max weight for a galaxy was just less than 1500Kgs Another thing to look at is the Data Plate, which will give Gross car weight, and Gross train weight (both car and caravan) Radiotwo yeah no probs, been caravanning for lots of years, galaxy can tow braked 1750kg and van is 1415kg unladen, went on one of those sites that give you a compatability for car and van, mine was v good

Hi all Went to york pulling my twin axle corona caravan with my 59 2.0tdi galaxy, was very impressed with the way the car pulled the van, good mpg and getting into and staying in 6th gear was fine

isnt there an air bag in the quarterlight ?, as for the centre consle when opened it obscures our vision abit

My child locks keep coming on when i shut the rear doors, anyone had this prob before, obviously i open the door and turn the switch to turn them of, but when i try to open the door after a journey, they are back on again, any help please
