Same problem: smells like exhaust fumes in the cabin, worst when stationary, cabin filter goes black with 'soot'. Did a smoke test but found no leaks anywhere. Any thoughts welcome, no-one likes changing the cabin filter! Thanks, M

Recently acquired a 2003 1.9 TDi 115PS 90K miles and yes, among other faults, the turbo trips out at about 3000 revs when under some load. When I first drove it out of the city where it had lived for several years, the turbo gave a loud squeal before tripping, and there was hardly any boost. Dealer has since replaced the vane actuator so that there is now more boost and much less squealing! :o but it still trips when I need it most. For those who want to see how the variable vane system works, try or for info, pics and videos. Dealer is getting my vehicle back next week for 'adjustments' and, if I'm lucky, cleaning the vanes to eliminate sticking. Will let you know if he cures it... ;)
