ouch.... sounds expensive. That was one of the options suggested by the Main agent, how long were you running before it did all the damage? I had this very problem myself towards the middle of last year with my Galaxy 1.9tdi ( 2003 ). If the problem disappears when you dip the clutch then I am sure you have the same issue - quite common by the sounds of it although Ford only did a warranty recall on the 130BHP engine version. It was the dual mass flywheel - so I needed a new clutch, dual mass flywheel - driveshafts and a gearbox - all of which has sustained damage as a result of the failure of the flywheel. If you catch it early enough you may not be as unlucky as me !!!

Does anyone have any ideas!... I have a massive vibration problem with my (02) 1.9 TDI Ghia when driving on the motorway. The old gal runs fine around town but after about an hours driving at 70 (ish) vibration starts coming from the front end. It starts as a low grumbling then works up to practically shaking the car to bits. There is a loss of power and it get worse if you depress the accelerator. Also, dumping the clutch stops it vibrating for a while as does switching off (cooling) for a couple of hours. I've had it looked at by the local garage, they checked drive shafts (no problems), replaced a temp sensor, replaced injector wiring loom, but I still have this problem and they have run out of ideas. Did it again today, the AA guy reckons its either the EGR or the carbon canister causing a vacuum in the tank. He says main dealer is the only solution and it's gonna cost. Thought I'd check out the board before I commit to the cash burn.
