Done and tested, all seems good, lol damn that rules out that hitting the starting problem. Now onto fuel lines. Cheers Rob

lol damn cant find a thermometer when I need one, when the missus gets home from work I will ask her, she keeps bloody everything in her hand bag..... Cheers big_kev will see what the difference is, hopefully its not too different, but would explain the cold start issues, Rob

Hi, Sorry thought it was in my sig. Its a 2002 TDi 1.9 115bhp. I had this feeling it was too high for the water to be sat at cold, was expecting similar to ambient temp. I am using Vag com to get the temp from the sensor, and checking starting conditions, as the glow plugs are set at 0 cycle. I have just disconnected the sensor and now the glow plugs are on a 6 second cycle, so I am guessing something is wrong with the sensor. Just dont want to replace if the readings are correct. Cheers Rob

A quick question, I think I may have a sensor issue, but need to know if its working properly. I have been having starting issues in the cold weather, the ambient temperature is 6c outside at the moment and my coolant temp is showing at 16c which I used about 4 hours ago. I know water and ambient air temp are different but is this right? Rob

Hi All, I have just noticed that I am getting what feels like a misfire, but nothing is showing up on the ECU as error. I am getting no power at low revs either. I have a TDi1.9 2002 Galaxy, I have looked at MVB 13, 18 and notice when the misfire happens the values in MVB 18 on cly 1 and 2 change to 45. I let the engine idle for a min or so and they stick, cyl 3 and 4 reset to 0. The value changes only by a single unit but only resets when I turn the engine off and on again. Is this a problem with the Injector or wiring loom? Phoned garage and they have told me that they would have to individually check each injector which would be costly. I have checked the resistance on the injector loom which all come back around 0.1ohms, but this wouldn't rule out the loom would it? Thanks for any help, getting desperate now. Rob

Hi All Starting to get drag on my bus, have a 1.9Tdi 115bhp on a 51 plate, have a error about pump jet valve exceeding regulation, intimitant. Been going on for a while but seems to be getting worse some days. I have a feeling it might be the wiring loom in the head. Thought I had solved it with new fuel filter. I find when the engines cold the injector values are all fine across the board, but when engine gets up to temp cyl 2 is running at 2.88mg/str which is out of range. If I turn off the car and back on again it seems to rectify the problem until I run her in again. THough it doesnt always seem to be cyl 2 it passes to 1 and 4 occasionally. I have read about checking the loom, but didnt want to delve in if someone thought it might be something else. Have done a resistance test on the utside and all injectors are around 0.1 ohms. So maybe only when its hot. Also what is the part number for this loom , so I can check to see if my local dealer has it in, will use the missus car to go grab it with cover off if need be. Cheers for your help guys. Rob

Rough Running Cold Tdi
Stoneblade replied to JDHogg's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have you checked the lines for air? I had a problem with air getting and making the engine rough for about 10 secs until all cyinders firing without air in them. I found once leak was found the car starts first turn now. But dont forget there will be a small fluctuation in engine until ECU compenstates for all cylinders to hit norm. I dont know what the threshold is for the plugs to work, but how cold is the ambient temp outside when the light comes on? Mine only flicks at about 1c, only ever seen it come on for about 5 secs at -4c. Hope that helps Rob -
Locating & Removing Ecu
Stoneblade replied to jflet1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, Have you had the car hooked up to diagnostics to see how many faults its throwing up? I would grab a vag com lead from the internet and test myself before sending away as it can get costly to replace the ECU. Maybe a sensor is loose and its just throwing the engine management light on now and again, with the lead you can pinpoint what might be going on. Have a look on fleabay and you will pick one up for about a tenner, I would favour that than over a -
Indicators Dont Flash On Lock
Stoneblade replied to Munter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I would go with MrT on the checking of the door latches, I have found my rear door latch has a short on the sensor. Seeing you have Vagcom have a look under 09: Cent. Elect and see if there are any faults under that. Mine came up with this. Address 09: Cent. Elect. Controller: 7M3 962 258 S Component: Multifunkt.Einh 0001 Coding: 04097 Shop #: WSC 00000 1 Faults Found: 01141 - Luggage Compartment Unlocking Switch (E165) 29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent Hope that helps Rob -
This will deffinatly be the problem, I dont know on the mk 1 is they have a non return valve but on my mk 2 I had a fault with mine and it started the fuel leaking back in to the tank and the mornings it was a heller to get the bugger going. I would hold the key on start for about 10 secs until the engine started to turn over then it would run rough for about 5 seconds and smooth out. Couple of things you could try is to park the car facing down hill so gravity doesnt pull the fuel back down the line. What I tried is clamping the fuel pipe (rubber part) with something over night so it would act as a non return valve, dont clamp too tight else you will have to replace the pipe. Just ordered a valve from Ford for

02 115bhp Tdi Flat Acceleration
Stoneblade replied to justin36's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its sounding like air ingress into the system, mine had it last week, I couldnt get any power between 1000rpm and 2k until turbo kicked in and then would shoot away. I would have a look at the fuel lines, or get a bit of clear pipe and run it between filter and pump so that you can see if any airbubbles getting in. Get yourself a Vagcom lead and check for any errors on your ECU, mine started kicking out a valve pump error, been bugging me for ages. I found it to be a small pin hole in the line between the filter and pump as the hot pipe above it melted into it. Hope that helps Rob -

Vag Com Code Help
Stoneblade replied to Stoneblade's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
My MPG seems to have dropped from 40 to 25 though, thought it might be something to do with the injectors? Seem to have an issue with acceleration but think i have pinned that to the air flow sensor due to unplugging it has no effect, so have brought a new one. Cheers Rob -
Hi Just ran a test on my 1.9tdi and the following faults popped: 17669 - Pump-Jet Valve: Cylinder 1 (N240): Regulation Range Exceeded P1261 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17678 - Pump-Jet Valve: Cylinder 4 (N243): Regulation Range Exceeded P1270 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17672 - Pump-Jet Valve: Cylinder 2 (N241): Regulation Range Exceeded P1264 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16705 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Implausible Signal P0321 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent Any clue on what they mean, or how I fix them?
