Thanks for all the replies My interest was too tow a car trailer with a heavy 4x4 on it So thats out the window So how do discoverys etc get on with horse boxes and trailers with 4x4's on because im sure you would be pulling close to 3 tonnes? A long shot but if i buy a tdi 130 bhp what would be the maximum i could pull on a braked trailer?

Interested in the towbar option as the book says a similar thing but no pin present was wondering where the switch is or relay maybe???

Was wondering if loss of power to rear fog lights is common? Ive got power to plug in o/s rear corner near toolbox. Was wondering if it might be due too tow bar splice? but that is in n/s corner? Any ideas please?

Just what ive been told about a petrol galaxy-- Under that seat as said is the brains/box of tricks my friends flooded and he was furtunate to be able too dry ir out and a little squirt of electrical cleaner was also applied. Now the water came from some blocked drains in either corner under the bonnet under the windsreen give them a poke with some wire or it will happen again.

1700-2000rpm!

In 3rd,4th and 5th at these revs i can hear a slight sucking/blowing noise hard too tell? definetly seems too be coming from middle engine area-obvious turbo?? what would verify this, or could it be something else? This is only when moving Any ideas? Cheers

just brought car, whats booster heater and how does it operate?

forgot too say when it warmed up died down alot too a ok amount it takes far too long too warm up? when i said its a lot of smoke i mean clouds?

its putting the engine under a little strain going up hills with low revs/wrong gear. No judder just rasping noise?

1.9 tdi I think its whe the engine is under strain-revs a little low for gear Theres a rasping noise almost plasticy from the drivers side I thought air box at first or could it be cam belt tensioner? It only happens when driving-not stationary. Cheers

Ok still no good even had selector out of gearbox all look good. Found i can get it every time if first selecting a forward gear lift clutch too bite then select reverse (thanks too other thread on here) Anyway could really do with advice think its the box but would love someone too say otherwise. Searched for results nothing really matches. Got new cables coming and a little 10mm square bush that was badly worn??????

Ive got a 1.9 tdi manual. The gearbox cruntches into 1st (liveable) but then sometimes refuses too go into reverse? Ive tried adjusting the cables but the manual says too pull out all slack if i do this on the blue cable it appears too be too long and when fixed in cant get reverse at all or 5th so have too resort too trial and error but still no better than at the start. So can these cables stretch? im looking at changing them but dont want too waste money if i need a new gearbox?? all ends look good except little bush about 10mm square which is on linkage of blue cable? cheers.
