  1. Had a turbo impellor fail recently on my Mk1 98 1.9 resulting in the sump oil being burnt off through the exhaust. I didn't know about the trick of stalling until the highway Agency guy helped out. After re-oiling the engine runs ok with no knocking so hopefully it will be just the turbo.... I plan to get a recon turbo fitted with a warranty along with oil change, new filter and ford supplied oil feed pipe. Not sure whether the intercooler would be damaged at all or maybe it just need cleaning - could it be damaged in anyway? welcome your thoughts? I do not want to change the exhaust system - should I ask the garage to remove the exhaust and drain the oil or could I get away with running the engine at medium / high revs for for an hour or two / day to clean out the exhaust? I suspect that this I notice that several members have suggested drilling the exhaust and then welding the holes up after a day or two? Has anyone else tried this or is unneccesary? Is there anything else to consider? many thanks
