Same Problem Water In Footwell
LOZ replied to LOZ's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for your suggestion - but knowing my luck I'll probably cook the thing - and burn it! I'd rather have someone do it who knows what there doing (ie not me!)! Cheers anyway! I have just sent an e-mail to another local Ford garage to ask how much the bill would be - seeing as its a common problem they should have some idea! -
I took my Gal to an auto electricians as the heaters, air con, air circulation had all stopped working. They found the problem - it the `water in the passenger footwell' again. Unfortunately there's nothing they can do and I have to take it to Ford ouch. The electric box thingy is corroded. Does anyone know how much approxiamtely get this fixed? Just so I can brace myself Gal not cost me anything in the 7 years I had it - apart from tyres, etc so I think its worth spending some cash - but nice to know how much though! Also need some body work doing - had a slight smack with a van and the door panel and rear panel is bent in, anyone know how much this will cost to put right/replace? = thought about insurance, but last time I had some work done they stung me for it the next year! Cheers !

Thanks for all your info. You may need to excuse my lack of car mechanic terminollogy and as for taking things apart well I am no DIY mechanic! I did have a look at the fuses - with manual in hand it was the first thing I had a go at. But advised it was a dual fuse box and may not be looking at right ones? Front blowers are o.k. moves to screen, moves to face, moves to floor - the rear ones don't `power up'. I'll try moving the temperature knob while on full blast to hear whether there is a change in noise. Tried pressing all buttons on panel - cannot now remember if they're on or off - just nothing happens. Car warms up same as usual within about 10 or so minutes - never over heated - only perhaps once when I got stuck on a rather steep narrow hill and my hubby had to run infront of the car to stop oncoming traffic as I couldn't stop and start without going backwards! Lesson 1 not to go down steep hills! - this was way before all the problems!! I do have a yellow symbol on the panel which is something to do with the glowplug? It has to go out before you turn the engine on ? Well it still does the same as it did before ? Hope this answers some of your questions. Does it sound like a Ford job to get these sorted as I'd rather leave alone what I don't understand!

I have posted this once before a few months ago - but I having read other recent postings from people with similar heater problems ( no heat in the car ) and wondered if there was anything else that has gone wrong with theirs at the same time? I have no heat - the blowers are only blowing only cold air in, even when the car is up to temperature. The Air conditioning doesn't work. The air re-circulation blowers don't work The rear heaters/blowers don't work. And to top it off the part of the panel they're all on doesn't light upwhen the headlights are on. All this seemed to happen all at the same time during the summer ! Everything else seems to be working - actually I'm not sure whether I have the `plane coming into land' noise? One chappie advised about VAG COM but I don't know anyone who has one local to me, and I wouldn't know what I was looking at anyway! A local auto electric company will look at it for
-
I may be thick but VAG-COM? What's that? I only looked at the `instruction' book the car came with and changed some of the fuses with new ones. Long story but one time I took car to Ford for service mentioned that the rear 12v plugs one didn't work, told never mind it woudl take too long for could be very expensive to find a `small' electrical problem! It was a fuse blown!

 While on holiday (as problems always seem to arise !) I noticed that the lights on the bottom section of the instrument panel ie temp control switch, blower switch and the air con, rear blower and air circulator buttons were not illunimated when my lights were on! Also my hubby said he didn't think the air con was working, well I pushed the button and nothing happened to suggest it was working, (the light didn't come on and the engine rev didn't drop)as I tried the other two buttons for the rear blower and air circulation none of these were working either! This has got to be connected! Any suggestions - I've had a play in the fuse box just in case but nothing there seems to have failed. Air con had been ok - I leave it on all year round as it says in the book that its got to be run for at least 30 mins a month, I do about 30 mins driving a month! Any help and advise - so IF I do need to go to Ford (oh hump!) I can at least tell them where to look! - Local Ford doen't like investigative work takes up too many tea breaks! Thanks

My rear washer doesn't work! Even the wiper has a hard time getting from oneside to the other! And I don't get any of the water problems as stated on this site! So God knows where the water goes but it certainly isn't flowing inside the car! Am I lucky or what! Just to add : I can hear the washer motor running and the wiper is better at wiping as I've used it a few times - but still no water! AND YES the water bottle is full - I'm not that kind of a female car owner.

Engine Stops After Braking Sharply
LOZ replied to LOZ's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
STOP THE PRESS!!! Who was the clever one and said something about oil? While driving home with about a couple of miles to go the oil warning light came on!! Topped it up when I got home, luckily had a litre of oil in the cubby that I bought when I had the car, cos it was a different makeup to the oil for petrol cars, I will see whether this was the cause! or whether it is just coincident? Cheers LOZ -
Engine Stops After Braking Sharply
LOZ replied to LOZ's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
OK Everyone - just read all the messages and stuff - sorry its taken a while!! I'll check the oil at the weekend, but usually its o.k. I was mainly worried that it was the ABS or brakes warning me they're on their way out or something to do with having to spend -
Does anyone know what this problem is: I have an X reg 2000 model 1.9 tdi Galaxy A few times I have had to brake sharpley - mainly cos some one has cut me up or pulled out in front etc. ;) When this happens the engine stops, the brake light (i) comes on and a beep sounds. :o What is this telling me - I've stalled it (thought you couldn't stall a diesel galaxy?) or is it some thing to do with ABS (this light does not light up) What is going on ? :(

How Much For A 1st Service - Tdi 130
LOZ replied to italiastar's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
Heartlands Ford (Don't even go there!) Tamworth, Staffordshire 10,000 service with VAT -
Opps, I need a new passenger-side wing mirror (the mirror bit not the whole arm) had a argument with a Land Rover and a tongue lashing from its driver! :( I know I may beable to pick one up from a scrap yard, but they've all gone where I live! All I know its electric - it moves and heats up! If I bought a new one what price I am expecting to pay? and do I have to go to FORD ? Also the CV joint on the same side needs some attention (according the results of my MOT). Can I get this done anywhere else other than Ford (someone specialising in steering & suspension) and how much would it be about? I'm hoping to get these done soon in readiness of the holiday season! and I don't want to be ripped off!!!!!

The only suggestion as to keeping your premiums down is DON'T CLAIM!! Also some very good advice given to me was - theres a book that all dealers etc use for valueing cars - its on the internet - so check that you're not valuing your treasured car too much! Have a look into the excess amounts if you choose to pay

In answer to your 2nd question - a new facelift model has the slick oval front lights rather than round ones and the back bumper sticks out as its back end in more square! and the bumpers iare the same colour as the car
